I'll say it. 2 Fast 2 Furious is a great movie for HD DVD. - AVS Forum

So, I've seen all three movies in the series and my opinion of all three remains unchanged after having seen them again within the last month. I didn't like the first movie at all, I think the third was literally one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I still think the second film in the series is an incredibly enjoyable romp that delivers in spades when it comes to eye-candy and entertainment.

This disc looks and sounds amazing, and I think the presentation of the HD DVD only serves to make the movie more enjoyable since everything that you're watching for is enhanced by the format.

If you're into the mindless-action genre and are willing to suspend your disbelief for 90 minutes, I'd recommend you check this disc out.

I felt the same about the first one. No doubt that it's a bad movie, but the video and sound are incredible. The freeway chase and the final drag race are amazing demo material.

The second one seemed to have some slight edge enhancement or something. The image wasn't as natural looking from what I can remember.

I still rank 2F2F on D-theater as some of the best looking HD film content I have ever watched (HD DVD looks identical) The car colors just jump off the screen.

I enjoyed the first one, but have not see the sequels. I have been thinking about picking 1 or both up. My wife wants Tokoyo Drift and I already bought the first. I would not mind seeing xXx on HD as well.

Is it worth getting the uncut UK import over the US import ?

and how come the UK import is 1.78.1 and US version 2.35.1 ?

did they crop the video on the UK import ? cause the original size on dvd is 2.35.1

SONY 32XBR6
SAMSUNG 46C6500

BD 40
HD DVD 28

can't say if it is true for this title, but there's quite a few typos on the import universal and studio canal discs. the exact same discs, but different cover inserts for different countries of release, each listing different codecs and running times at the bottom with the disc info.

just because the US version doesn't say uncut on the cover doesn't mean it was cut. IMDb lists the movie at 107 minutes while the back of the US version has it a 1:48 (basically the same).

Besides, they are the same disc, except intros and perhaps additional/different dub/sub tracks. There's not a single foreign Universal HD DVD release that I know of that's different from the that of the US.

I have the European disc and it is 2.35:1. I assume they advertise it as uncut in the UK because apparently there were some cuts in the theatrical version as well as on the DVD (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0322259/alternateversions). I guess that means that the US and the European HD-DVD are indeed identical (except for the audio tracks of course).

You are right about the intros. I was surprised to see the opening credits for the US and UK 'Smokin' Aces' being different. The fonts and locations of the names in the frame were different.
