crap- I just bought the original hddvd for $19.99. Pretty disappointed in the pq and aq to boot. Good movie, will not double dip. Maybe the store will give me a credit if I return?

My first official double dip on HD-DVD or Blu-ray. Provided of course the transfer is improved and there are some extras beyond just a teaser.

I highly doubt that the video transfer will be much better than the current release.......it's just the filming of the movie that looks like ass. Great movie though.

Needless to say, you guys should have known the one that's available now was not a good transfer. This is why I waited. I want to get this one and The Fugitive but with all the bad reviews, I stayed away.

I doubt that this new one is going to be the same transfer cause that would only create such a huge backlash.

I won't be getting this, since it will be in the upcoming Kubrick collection.

DVNR to remove the grain (and other high frequency detail that goes with it)
Add some artificial sharpening to try to bring back the appearence of some of that lost detail
Crush the blacks a little
increase the saturation of the colors a bit and
VOILA!

90% of the people here would think they were getting a 'better'' and improved transfer.

after all, it worked with the Untouchables.

1080p vs. 540p

+ LOSSLESS!!!

You do the math!

"I wonder if any of the releases had slipcovers though."
"Are these comfirmed to have slipcovers?"
"They look nice in those slips."
"This slipcover looks too good to pass up."

Where do I send my information so Warner can issue me a replacement for my copy?

If sony can do it....

Come on WB.

Ridiculous codec tier sig gone. Still AVC/24bit lossless fanboy.

Studio quality tier
Most Major studios>Small Studios>dogs>cats>Warner(the guys that do new movies)

Amen brother! I'll probably go for the BD version if it has lossless/uncompressed audio though because I prefer hardcoating.

I'm so glad I waited on this one and KK.

Hopefully he's wrong and we just get a non-bobbed version with lossless audio.

I wonder if they will finally include the full documentary that was shot by his daughter.
Like the one on the Shining DVD.

You made this claim about The Untouchables before, and then later admitted that you hadn't even watched the whole movie. Have you done so yet? That disc does not look as you describe it.

The PQ of the original HD version is utter crap. IMO they should give us an exchange like TFE exchange.
