I really hope that this sticks. At this price I can take it. Apparently the MSRP has been lowered, I guess Paramount sort of came to their senses, although they still have a little way to go.

Oops, I guess it's $139.25

BTW- Startrek.com has a video available that shows some of the extras on the HD-DVD version of the disc. This includes some of the PiP commentary, the 3D shuttlecraft tour of the Enterprise and more.

I might consider $135 if it was for every episode. They are on crack if they think a single season is worth $100+. I'd consider $35 if I'm in a good mood.

I certainly agree that the price should be lower than this, although $135 is much better than $217 at any rate. (OK, I knew that thanks to Amazon it would have been cheaper than $217 anyways, but I wasn't expecting the set to get this low already).

Great news! That $217.99 price tag was insane, people who have the 10% off coupon can snag this baby for $124 Good price, Paramount gets to make $$$ off the Trekkies... Trekkies get Star Trek in HD... everyone wins now!

Way to expensive. For $79.99, I'd bite.

Well this is welcome good news!Seems since going HD-DVD exclusive, Paramount /CBS Home Video has been making one good move after another.

Alot of us have already/or will be tomorrow, buying the Heroes season 1 set on HD DVD for between $70-$80.Considering
that price, what is being asked for all three season of ST:TOS remastered in HD ISN'T BAD AT ALL.I seriously doubt you'll see it for sale for much less for quite awhile, most certainly not for $79.99..

That's certainly better. At least the set is in the "consider" column instead of the "I ain't no sucka" one now, for me at least.

They charge that for regular DVD seasons of Enterprise and Voyager.

It's a decent price for a HD TV series. $99 at Best Buy for Heroes, Planet Earth, Matrix Trilogy. The Sopranos Season 6 part 1 (&2) $129 MSPR, Battlestar Galactica Season 1 MSRP $99.
I agree that a better price would sell more, but as it is I think we could be looking at the top selling HD DVD ever.

Please ignore me beyond this point---------------------

I'm just going to take a moment to give myself a Colbert Report "I called it" moment

with 36% discount = $127.36.

Trek clubs also get bulk discounts for purchases

It'd probably be much higher if it weren't for the Amazon buy 2 get 1 free deal.

Maybe it's that $150 million in suitcase money Microsoft kicked down that has allowed Paramount to lower the price? [/sarcasm]

Um... What? Let's think about this a minute. The Matrix Trilogy has sold about what, 15 to 16 thousand copies? Planet Earth has moved about 20 to 25 thousand copies on HD DVD? How the hell is Star Trek going to be the top selling HD DVD ever?

Are you talking sheer financial volume? Even that is questionable with the number that 300 has already moved, and Transformers might move.

You've out argued yourself here. You admit the 300 and Transformers can shift some titles and your analogy of Planet Earth & Matrix are months old.

Besides for arguments sake what was the point of your post?

Well for arguments sake ST: TOS is the biggest HD/SD draw yet, at a price the Trekkers are already used to paying for the series individual seasons. People who will buy ST TOS HD are not just current HD owners, but also people who will buy a HD player because of it.

I stand corrected!.After reading the new press release on StarTrek.com(has a picture of the box set as well)it does reaffirm that they are releasing it in thre parts, though with 10 discs i still don't consider $139.99 to be that bad. We'll likely see it for $129.99 but even so, i doubt it will get any lower any time soon.Being a Trek nut it's a blind buy for me, but i can understand how those on the line or those with the dvd sets would balk at the price or decide to wait for awhile to see if the price goes down over time.

I do see this as being a format seller though. It'll likely be enough to convince a few BRD only to either support both formats(if they can afford it) or switch over to supporting HD DVD.
