I recall seeing a posting stating that Death Proof was going to be released this year on HD DVD over seas (outside of America). Any updates?

Because there are still a fair number of people that would buy releases.

According to a studio representative's posting in the German Cinefacts forum, the Death Proof HD DVD will still be released this year. Apparently the discs have been sitting in a warehouse for some time already, but Weinstein is blocking the release until the US version (on BD) is out ...

Really? That's actually good news. The question is though, when is the BD plan to be released? I think The Mist and 1408 are the only titles announced on BD so far.

The guy from Capelight/Senator wrote that the HD DVD will be out in December and cased in a Steelbook.

Yep, and the HD DVD will be released that day as well. They were not allowed to release it any sooner.

If true, it's a perfectly named title for a final release.

Wow even after the format war, Weinstein is still capable of screwing over HD DVD customers.

The Amazon.de page for it still doesn't show it on the release schedule. Any other info folks?

If it keeps the same reference number as before, it would be here:

Weinstein should've released this and Planet Terror as day and date HD DVD's the same week as Transformers LAST YEAR. You can read up on the rest at highdefdigest or just search this forum.

Weinstein stopped all releases cold. They basically turned their back on HD DVD. It was very obvious if you were following the format war. They were supossedly in HD DVD's camp, but ended up crying over poor sales and took their ball and went home. It was embarrassing.

Here is what Josh Z said last year:

The Weinstein Company Home Entertainment
Last and certainly least is The Weinstein Company (distributed via Genius Products), the worst High Definition studio of 2007. Technically HD DVD exclusive, the company released only 7 titles this year, the last back in June. They made no effort to issue new discs day-and-date with DVD and released mostly crappy movies (though I'll admit that 'Feast' is a fun guilty pleasure). They then acted surprised that their discs didn't sell and subsequently pulled up their stakes and vanished. Where are the 'Grindhouse' movies? Where is '1408'? Where's that 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' consolidated edit they've been promising for ages? Nowhere to be found on High-Definition, that's where. Thanks for nothing, Weinstein.

The HD DVD is definitely going to be released in Germany. I got my review disc last week.

Someone posted a shop in a commentary on my website (take a look at my profile), which has Death Proof available for Pre-Order. http://www.trade-a-game.de/i,77563/hd-dvd/death-proof
But they only ship internationally on request.

They essentially released what few day and dates they did have (Pulse, Black Christmas, Clerks II) a few months after the DVD versions hit stores. They were not too happy with sales of those (duh) and disappeared. Can't blame them for going away....but had they put a bit more force into their HD DVD library it may have gone a bit better for them (missing out on release Planet Terror, Death Proof, 1408, The Mist, Halloween etc.)

Excellent to hear. I'll probably just keep an eye on Amazon's page, as that'll be easier than a special request. Cheers!
