I just bought the HD-A35 and two movies from Amazon for $313 shipped... that is $10 less than using the Best Buy deal. I will have Bourne Identity*, 300*, Chronicles of Riddik and Eastern Promises along with the 5 free discs from the MIR. *= in box...

Just a tip for those on the fense.

p.s. The A35 is down to $254 (as of yesterday)

SixthAve-dot-com also has the $254 price, but they have a coupon code (CAT6OFF) that takes 6% off, bringing the price down to $238.76
They also have a 30 day price guarantee against ANY AUTHORIZED ONLINE DEALER. So if any online authorized dealer has a better price of at least $10 or more difference within 30 days, they will refund the difference.
That is the best deal going right now period.

Wow! Makes my purchase of an A2 for $200 last June seem almost exorbitant ! The times, they are a-changing!

Eh! Damn, it's been awhile, but I DO remember that from my brief road trip through Canada mid '70's. Welcome to the forum ! (Particularly general Toronto vicinity, eh! )

that's a sweet deal! Since I have an A2 and a PS3 I've decided that I'm only buying CHEAP titles. BOGOs or NOGO is my motto. BR or HDDVD I don't give a crap. $12.50 is cheap for a new release. I'm in!

Finally another BOGO, but a HORRIBLE selection. For me atleast. Shaun of the Dead is the only movie I'd want that I don't have.

Thanks for the tip. I see that the deal is still working this morning. My question is will the player only include the 2 free HD-DVD in the box and eligible for the 5 mail in HDDVD's? There are no mention of any of the free DVD's on that page. Thanks.

The 5 free discs is a promotion offered by the HD DVD group, and not the retailer that sells you the player. All you need is the UPC code on the box and your receipt.

I noticed this morning that Amazon had deeper discounts on a couple of dozen titles - Corpse Bride, Blazing Saddles and Training Day included.

It's already in there from a few days ago. Some have had success with copies and some haven't. I guess it is worth a short for those who want to try for it if they had purchases planned anyway.

With the 10% off coupon I have, it's a no brainer, I'm getting Knocked Up and Disturbia for $27+tax Less than $15 per disc tax included, not too shabby.

Yes, I just ordered some blu-rays and a couple final HD DVDs from their site. Pretty good prices, Close Encounters especially.

Question about this weeks (01/27/08) 'Best Buy' advert leaked on the net..
I have seen the scan..
The heading says: Buy one get One Free
The second line says: On any one of these HD discs.
The way that I read this means you purchase any HD disc any in stock for $24.99 (and or $29.99) and get one(s) of listed free??

That is not usually how those sales work at most places (especially Best Buy). What they mean I am sure is that you pick two movies from the page in the ad, and you get the lower priced (or of equal value) movie free.

Have the clearance of hddvd players at CC affected the price of hddvd software in the store? If they clearance the titles I will be hitting a few stores.

Nope. Just got back from CC with a spanking new A3 ($100.04) and movies were regular price.

The movies rang up full price and then the cashier refused to honor the BOGO from the ad. I told him about the sign in the aisle (I'd even verified I had the right editions, in case there were multiple), then he wandered off to find an ad. He came back, looked at the page that showed BOGO, ran his fingers past the two movies, and told me that it was only select movies and the two I had didn't qualify and weren't even on the page. I walked out in disgust, without the movies and without saying a word in reply. One of my pet peeves is stores that can't get their cash registers to align with their sales, and I already hate shopping at Best Buy, so I was not at all in the mood to argue.

Try a different cashier, or simply call the manager. That way you walk away with the movies and the cashier looks like a dumbass!

Why do you even bother talking to the cashier? Head straight for customer service with any issues. BB seems to have paranoid drones working for them as of late... Unfortunately it is the same with CC, Sears, most of B&M stores are turning this way.

The further you go up the chain of command the more accomodating they usuaully are. The low level people are too afraid they will get in trouble for making a mistake that costs the company money.

They higher ups usually know the deal and realize their job is to try to help out the customer.

Its a best buy issue. I went over there today and they were having the same issue with all BOGO movies. I went and picked up smokin aces and bourne supremecy, and they didnt ring up BOGO, so the cashier thought it may be because SA was a Dual format, so i went and looked and that was it, so she then called a manager and the manager knew that none of the BOGO's were ringing up correctly so they fixed the price so it was 31.50 for the 2 movies. When i was looking at the movies they said they were having issues with Transformers, but yea, it was a issue with the system, that none of the BOGO's were ringing up correctly/.

and as for management usually knowing how to deal with customers....stay away from the Ccity i work at because they will pawn you off onto a regular employee....

Better yet, order and pay for your Best Buy BOGO HD DVDs online then go pick them up in the store. That way you know the price will be correct and you won't have to argue with anyone. You'll even save yourself a trip if they don't happen to have what you want in stock.

Good point... and at least you know what they have in stock. I went in this morning for the BOGO promotion and I couldn't even look at the shelves so many people were there. Transformers was no where to be found as many others but Shooter and Knocked up where the only ones left. Oh well... The manager was going back and forth to each register trying to fix the "corporate" issue as she put it.

I did see one called Shawn of the dead... Anyone seen it. Worth it?
