I have been waiting to get a sonos system for years and now it looks like I will. While waiting I know other products have come out, however, I do not know much about them. Hopefully, you all can offer some suggestions.

What I am looking for is a non powered device to allow me to stream music from my computer to my main systems (i have 2 main systems I want to utilize). An important factor is having a remote that makes it easy to find what I am looking for. Ideally I would like it when people come over they can pick up the remote and put something on they would like to hear out of my collection.

Any input you can offer would be great, hopefully I have this in the right section.

THanks

Yes the Sonos is great. I loved it.

I obtained a modified cullen circuits sonos that outputs at 96k instead of 48K. And together with a DAC-2 from W4S sounds fantastic.

Hope this helps

What about competitors though? Do any of you know who they are or what products I should consider? I saw something about Yamaha and linksys coming out with units though I can really find anything that compares them directly to sonos.

I have found nothing better than the SONOS - for sound quality and ease of use. I would strongly recommend the investment into a cheap NAS (I got the Western Digital 2 TB for $125) and put all your music on it uncompressed. This way your computer doesn't have to be on to play your music through the SONOS. Also, my computer wasn't near my router, so it was using the wireless connection and the while it worked great for compressed music, it would break up with uncompressed. The NAS sits right next to my router, wired and now my SONOS plays uncompressed music throughout the house without any hiccups.

Why is there NO perfect equipment, only compromises?
