My Denon receiver does not have a phono input on it, so I need a special preamp for a turntable to work properly with it, any suggestions on a good preamp?

How much do you want to spend? $50 or so will get you a decent one at www.phonopreamps.com. $150 covers the Parasound Zphono.

I have a Cambridge Audio 640P and am very happy with it. I had a Parasound zphono and it died after 6 months (of course YMMV). The 640 has been running like a champ for years now.

CA 640P is a very good preamp, unless you want to use non-standard load (required for some cartridges). In that case you need preamp with variable cartridge load, which are usually much more expensive.

The Musical Fidelity phono preamp, for $150, is superb; comparable performance to much more expensive units.

It sounds almost as good as my Audio Research PH-5 ($2000).
