My father in law has been giving me some of his old equipment over the years, and over Christmas he gave me his old CD player. It's an Esoteric (Teac) CD-Z500. I have it set up to a B&K Pro10-MC Pre-Amp w/ a B&K Sonata EX-442 2 Channel Amp. It was manufactured in 1990, but the sound is incredible, considering it's replacing a $150 Sony 5 Disc I bought at Best Buy a decade ago. I have found very little about it on the web and hope that someone can fill me in on what they know about it.

I purchased an Esoteric CD-Z5000 new in the early 90's. It's in storage now, but I remember how great it sounded with my Snell EIII speakers. It had dual TDA1541A DA chips which are still sought after by those in the vintage audio community. I remember having an issue with my player. Every now and then it would not recognize any tracks on the CD. I would keep opening and closing the tray until it did. I still don't know why it did that.
