hey now.

i was looking at a bellari tube phono stage. i am a sucker for the tube sound, but since i am using an avr, i was wondering if i used pure direct mode on receiver if that warm sound would travel to my speakers, or if it would be lost in the amplification stage of my receiver?

You're not cultured. You're stupid.

Pure direct mode does not alter signal in any way other then amplifying it. So what you get from phono stage, is what you hear from speakers.

There is concern that not all pure/direct modes are as pure or direct as others. The Denon AVR4312C has such a mode, but it conspicuously avoids saying it is analog bypass. It just says all the DSP modes are turned off.

So far any Denons I saw had pure analog direct mode. If input was digital, it was just D/A conversion and nothing else too.

thanks for the responses fellars, i read into what pionner elite considers pure direct and direct and apparently what i got was:

direct: only process done to the sound is the configurations done by mcacc
pure direct: no processes done to it all
