Hello, I'm looking for a digital music player, like an iPod, that has an optical output and also supports FLAC files.

I am currently using an Onkyo 809. I use a Xoom and a 3.5 mm to rca (Belkin) cable to connect the Xoom to the receiver.

I would like to spend less than $150

Also, is there another home set-up that will provide me with great sound quality. I am just afraid that the Xoom degrades the sound quality. Thanks

What are your goals? Are you using this "digital music player" as your main source? What kind of audio do you have on it (number of channels, resolution)? Does it need to be portable? Why digital connection? What is your reciever and speaker equipment? What is your room like?

Yes, this will be my source. I want it to be digital, so the receiver, not the Xoom, creates the analog signal. 5.1 Polk RTi speakers and Outlaw LFM-EX subwoofer but I listen to 2.1 when playing music.

I think I will just use a Dune 301 or Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming device(from PC to device), since they both support FLAC and have digital outs.

Why not just use the DLNA network feature of the 809 and use your XOOM as a remote?

TV: Panny 42" Plasma | Sources: nVidia Shield TV (2017); WDTV Live SMP; HDTV cable; SqeezeBox Touch | Receiver: Kenwood Sovereign 4090 | Fronts: JBL Studio S312 | Center: JBL LS Center | Surrounds: JBL N24II | Sub: None (saving for SVS PC-2000)
