Back in the 1960's I saved up my gas station job money and bought my first record player, a very small Zenith battery powered portable mono player. It played both 45 & 33 1/3 records, was cream in color and came with a removable same colored top and fixed carring handle on the front end. I loved that little machine. If it could talk you would hear it list the names of most every great and not so great '60's - '72 1/2 rock group. You might wonder why I was so specific by writing '72 1/2. In July 1972 Uncle Sam came knocking on the door. biggrin.gif

we had a turquoise & white sears record player in the 60s, mostly for sis & her beatle 45s ugh, so in '79 i got a rack system with tt & think it was a teac? it died finally in the early 90s after many faithful hours. some years later, got another teac, el cheapo model & it was ok but broke the needle & went on to cds, then this past nov, found a dual 1218 with a walnut base on craigslist & bought it for $65 & it sounds great with my newish home audio gear. only thing i hate about vinyl is having to flip the record every 20 min or so lol. biggrin.gif

Technics SL-BD22, purchased new at Best Buy in 1991 (or thereabouts). I just sold it on about 2 years ago, still in great shape.

My first record player was a mono player from Sears which I got as a Christmas present in 1966. It was turquoise and had a lid which when closed, allowed you to carry it like a small suitcase. It was a 6 disc changer. It's surprising that my albums survived as well as they did given the abuse they endured on this primitive player.

my first turntable was a marry poppins model that only played 45s. I was like 4 .

This being, that becomes;
On the arising of this, that arises.
This not being, that does not become;
On the cessation of this, that ceases.

Mine was a Dual 505-2 WD purchased in August 1986. I still have it although it doesn't get as much use as it should.

Ha Got my first record player way back in 2011...
Audio-Technica AT-LP240-USB Direct-Drive Turntable paired with a Shure M97xE High-Performance Magnetic Phono Cartridge.
Sounds great. I think for xmass i will ask my wife for a new Cartridge. Nothing wrong with the Shure but i would like to try a different one. (maybe the Audio Technica AT440MLA Dual-Moving Magnet Phono Cartridge )

Any suggestions, what are you using? cant spend more the $200 one.

Wow! I used Audio Technica cartridges on my Technics Direct Drive back in the 1970's. That turntable is still in use today. biggrin.gif
