Get a Sony Blu-Ray player. They output DSD over HDMI and are well within your price range.

Thanks. Would the difference between a oppo 93 and the Sony to justify the extra cost. I have a blue ray player already. Thanks

For SACDs, nothing extra to justify the extra cost. Sony sends out higher resolution PCM.

Sony can send out DSD, or PCM at 176.4kHz from SACDs via HDMI.

Oppo can send out DSD, or PCM at 88.2kHz from SACDs via HDMI.

Audiosceptics accept audio trials using 25 people. A recent Oxford study with over 353,000 patient records from 639 separate clinical trials shows for every 1,000 people taking diclofenac or ibuprofen there would be 3 additional heart attacks, 4 more cases of heart failure and 1 death every year.

Which Sony player can send out DSD or PCM at 176.4 kHz from SACD vian HDMI?

At least all models for the past two years. They support DSD over HDMI and if you need PCM, it will send it out at 176.4 kHz sample rate (176.4/24).

I own the S780 and when I tried to connect it to my processor for SACD over HDMI I got a distorted signal. Its probably a configuration issue.

Another consideration would be an ability to play a copy of SACD on DVD-R media. It is more important going forward, as there is less and less opportunity to find SACD disks new. But copies of old records are commonly available. None of the SONY players can play SACD on DVD-R. Oppo BD player work, older OPPO DVD players require customized firmware. Most Pioneer DVD players work too. There are several web sites dedicated to SACD copying (they refer to them as SACD-R), you can find more information there.
