I have been using my Pioneer LD player as my main CD Player but am wondering if I am missing out on not using the Phillips DVD player instead. Yes, there is a significant age gap between these two (~15 years) but felt one might as well ask the pros.

According to Amazon, the Phillips Player has 192kHz, 24-bit Audio Digital-To-Analog Converters. Not sure about the LD player but some audio specs are posted here: http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/laserdisc_archive/pioneer/pioneer_cld-d704/pioneer_cld-d704_review2.jpg

Any thoughts?

Both are being run via analog connections to a Pioneer VSX-704S receiver and out to a pair of Boston Acoustics VR-30s.

What is your problem? I gave you an honest answer. Neither one is better than the other.

Excuse me, I guess I just don't understand exactly. Can you explain it a bit more? Do you mean that they are about equal in quality? Also, is there really a way to rate certain CD's players above others? I thought that perhaps different types of DACs, jitter, 1-Bit DLCs, and filters might count in this kind of question.

I mean that in a fair comparison, you couldn't tell them apart if your life depended on it. That's been true of pretty much all conventional CD players for more than 20 years.
