Besides if I didn't know any dirt about any particular high end player, doesn't mean that there isn't any dirt to be known.

If I remember correctly, some high end players in the beginning to mid 2000's used a cd rom drive...

but I used to build a few with that:http://www.audiodesignguide.com/CDROM_Controller/cd.html

Quote:
The Parasound CD 1 uses a new method for playing CDs that is based on using a CD ROM drive instead of a conventional CD drive and a Linux-based computer to read and process the CD data.

http://www.************review.com/parasound-partners-with-holm-acoustics-to-deliever-innovation-cd-player/

There is a lot of bull in the article about superior SQ..
Quote:
“The CD 1 demonstrates that CDs can sound significantly better than anyone has imagined possible,” said Richard Schram, Parasound’s president and founder. “The full potential of the 16-bit CD format is realized for the first time in the CD 1.”

but what they are doing for about 4500$ can be done with a 100$ MoBo, a 200$ Theramaltake Housing, a 170$ M audio 1010lt soundcard, an 100$ PS, a 250$ pioneer bluray rom, a videocard and a wireless adapter for less than a third of the money.
And throw in a couple of 2TB harddrives for ripping your CD collection to flac...with backup.

That is a real oldie. It is so old that its converters may or may not be in the same league as modern gear, even the low priced stuff. New releases in that format are a tad hard to find, right? ;-)

true Arny. they don't make laser disc anymore. I always wanted one, but never could afford the high price at the time. I saw it at salvation army for 10 dollars one day and had to buy it. I am going to try and find older music laser disc for it. I played a few cds on it and so far it sounds okay. did you ever get into laser disc Arny?

50 disc changer wow. Someone gave me a pioneer 6 disc magazine style changer about two years ago, but I couldn't get it to work. maybe they didn't realize that it no longer worked after probably not using it in a while. just curious where did you find this good deal on the pioneer?

Ebay, the seller originall posted on craifslist and when he didn't get any offers posted it on ebay. Since it was local he even personally delivered it.

$20 dollars, that's an excellent deal. My thing was I wasn't even going to buy it because I only wanted a 25 disc player, I haven't tried loading both sides yet just slot 1-25 so far.

In terms of new SACD releases, the numbers are approaching record highs.

Did you know that disco record sales were up 400% for the year ending 1976? If these trends continue... A-y-y-y!
