My father in law is looking for a CD player that looks nice for the kitchen. They are old school, and it's hard to find anything. The Bose systems used to be nice, but pretty pricey.
No. CD players are now obselete. People use computers, digital music players, cell phones and that sort of thing these days. I don't know if Bose still makes stand alone CD players. If they do, they could be alone in that activity.
The Bose CD/Radio player is still one of the best in this category. Forget the $500 or so price; get him a nice Christmas present and give him that Bose.
The sound quality is still unbeatable, and so is its form factor. ...And he can connect his iPad.
My mom (74 y.o.) loves the SONY under-the-cabinet CD player I got for her kitchen. Don't even think this comes close to "audiophile" quality, but it's all about ease-of-use and out-of-the-way.
BTW, you will have to do some drilling to mount it.
Yes it can be nice to flip through your cd or album collection. It can bring up fond memories from the past, old girlfriends, high school buds, oh no way not my old Terence Trent Darby CD?
I gave my mom a jvc player a few years ago, she loved it and still uses it. They are still for sale on ebay. JVC-FS-7000 executive cd player.
