I am looking for an SACD/DVD-A changer. One of the aspects to this apparently is something about "true DSD decoding" rather than other types of DSD decoding used by cheaper units? Can anyone elucidate on this topic a bit, or point me toward some info?
I just want to figure out whether I'm missing something by choosing a sub-$500 changer.
As far as I know, Yamaha DVD-C750 (same model as DV-C6770) and DVD-C950 are the most favorably reviewed SACD/DVD-A changers on the audio side. The only difference between them is that C950 has Faroudja deinterlacer and HDMI out for better video performance. I don't know what method they use for decoding SACD data. Check out reviews of the C750 at Audioholics and HomeTheaterMag.
