New around here.

Recently I found A Pioneer PL-518 Turntable at a thrift store for $5. It was missing the cartridge but everything else seems to be in working order. I was wondering if anybody had opinions on this turntable. Is worth it to go ahead and get a good cartridge for it (cartridge suggestions would be appreciated) or should I look for another table?

Simply put. Is this thing worth putting a $100-$150 cartridge on?

Thank you.

There is a reason that table was $5.00. If you are really interested in spinning vinyl and having it sound good, you'll need to get a better table. There are plenty of inexpensive tables by Rega, Music Hall and older Thorens that will meet your needs.
