my dead thread is alive
Shino, they did that to you....sigh!!
I only followed it for a short time, really boring stuff in the end from Peter, etc.
Other then Thy being a big ass to lots of people I have to be honest and say that his opinion on my project helped me build something that Im still extremely happy with. He had lots of PMs with me and the way he was able to keep it simple for me was awesome.
I never want to be a speaker building expert because I believe that a person can follow instructions and get a great product. Im not selling anything either so everything I build is for my enjoyment.
Thy was right in the fact that we can build speakers the first time out and be EXTREMELY impressed (I have had lots of comercial speaker experience so Im not impressed easily). He was right that people sometimes need to jump in and just do it instead of worry about the science taking years to learn. His suggestion of going with an active crossover design was the biggest factor in my sucess.
I can not describe how easy an active crossover design allows a noob like me to create a sound system that I have a hard time matching comercially. When other fear how hard speaker building is, I just get a warm tingly feeling and a little chuckle
Yes Thy goes off on a tangent with people and its sad that he wants to be such an "underground rebel/angry old man" type of guy but my success is because of his help and I thank him for that.
