Ignoring all sound quality issues (I know it is religious!), using the same driver, how is excursion affected? Specifically, a very small driver (3-4")?

I thought I heard in some cases, you would get more excursion in a sealed box (goes against the 'air spring' thing) compared to a properly-designed ported box.

Idea is - with a smaller driver and no high-pass filter, what is the best way to limit over excursion?

Thanks!

best way to limit excursion with no high-pass filter is to build a sealed box.

In a sealed box the maximum excursion is at resonance whereas a ported box has maximum damping at resonance.
