However, if I would build something more along the lines of the Pi4 or a "monitor" style I could mount them above the subs.

We'll see what happens when the time comes.

I'd strongly recommend the DE250 loaded Four Pi, over anything with a conventional tweeter. I've toasted nautilus series B&W tweeters on two separate occasions $$$. Conventional speakers are not efficient enough to handle the dynamics without compression/distortion or damage.

Considering the availability of the Maelstrom-X 18" I'd also jump ship and go to the LMS-R 15", it offers better extension and thermal capacity in this design. Two back to back under the mains behind your screen will be very satisfying.

Dan have you not joined the world of wave guides like the rest of us? I know you don't think highly of the 220ti but I just finished 6 Lcr srs with the original weave horn but the two families that I built them for really like them and the highs aren't as brutal as my 2150s.

I've got some D220ti's and also the Celestion compression drivers you've got in your 2150's and if memory serves the Celestion drivers don't have the same problem as the 220ti's. Maybe your crossovers need tweaked a bit. The regular Econo Wave WG is very good with the JBL 2408h drivers I have, I should go ahead and build them up with my FitalPRO 12PR300's. IMO the DE250 is about the beginning of good performing CD's, but there's better for not a whole lot more $.

Dan

If you do try it out, let us know. I've been looking at those same drivers for a possible outdoor build. Faitalpro woofers have waterproof cones and the DE200 is used in the QSC S282h, so I'm assuming the DE250 would also work.

well I think its due to the fact that the 2150's were an AT screen speaker so the tweet may have been run hotter. I dropped it down about 5 db from 8k up and that seemed to sound easier on the ears.

I really need to break out the rat shack mic and a log book one day and see what it does.

Nice design NeoDan, are you going to flare the port at either (or both) end? If so, will you be using a router?

What other CD would you recommend that aren't to pricey NeoDan?

I have the QSC 152WG which means I would have to use a 1" CD. I have looked at so many designs between the 3015Lf Econo wave and the 4Pi 2226 design but just not sure still. I cant find the woofers yet as far as a 2226 for cheap enough for me to buy yet. STill dont have the CDs yet either.

I just figured whatever I use will be with the QSC 152 WG to keep my budget down.

Yes you can flare the front opening a bit with the recommended router bit that is used to radius the corners and inside end of the port. It's just really hard to draw on the front of the box with so many pieces intersecting there.

In 1" bolt on drivers the BMS 4550 would be the one I am most interested in. however the 1.5" 4555 is ~$12 more and I already have the BIG JBL ($90) WG for it. I am going that route as opposed to building up my QSC 152 WG's. As to a recommendation on 15"; the Deltalite II 2515 would be a good choice unless you are going to need loads of excursion in your application. But lots of excursion is bad for your midrange any way.

Where is the Econowave 3015LF thread, I didn't think there was one?

Dan

Zilch didn't really build 15's with the ewave, he liked the 12's more. I think his reasoning was that the 15's got narrow compared to the 12's.

I could be wrong though.

I know this is an old thread but, would a Dayton Audio RSS390HF-4 15" Reference HF be a dirrect drop in for this enclosure design? If not, how close would the dimensions be? I tried to do my own modeling in Winisd but I made a mistake somewhere and my dB is negative.

BirdRider, a few weeks back Dan told me he would update the model for the dayton 15HF I haven't heard from him since but I'm sure he will get around to it.
I did my own modeling around the design over on HTGuide.

I'll cross post this in hopes to maybe get some additional Opinions.

My current setup is (will be) a overnight sensation centerchannel, two MTM ONS for the fronts, and two MT ONS's for the rears.

I've been Eying the Dayton hf 15" Combined with a bash 300W plate amp.

The basic design would follow this only changing the width to please the wife. ;x( The width would be cut down to about 17". This would give me roughly 5^3 ft internal after subtracting everything

So I threw everything into Winisd to see what I could come up with. I'm not sure how to interpolate the results. Here is the Volumes and tuning frequencies followed by the Port sizes for each of the designs.

As you can see, I played around with the internal volume without much gain. I also tried making the port 1" wide instead of 2" wide and that seemed to get the tuning freq. down even more but, the graph looks all funky.

Please any comments are welcome.

Hi All
I've been a slacker. The revision for a "regular" 15" driver is underway; I've yet to convert it to cut sheets. The port will be 2" tall; that should be plenty for non-LMS drivers...

Dan

You will want to modify the filter circuit in the plate amp to something like 11Hz Q=1 12dB/octave

Are there other amps that wouldn't need to be modified? How do the plots look to you?

I'm not aware of any amp that comes with the ability to dial in the filter I'm recommending. You can use a quality amp that's flat below 10Hz and then use an outboard filter like the MIC2200.

Is this the best box for my 19Ov.2? I've had my 19Ov.2 sitting in a box for the past 3-4 years and I'm finally ready to build an enclosure for it. It is the dual 4ohm model.

Can anyone that has built this enclosure and used an eD 19Ov.2 in it comment on how it sounds?

Hard to find TS parameters for it, I went by these:
Quote:
Qts .369
Qes .37
Fs 26
Re 3.5
Vas 228
Mms 307.0
Bl 22.10t
Sd 1200
Xmax 22 mm

If so, the LLT would work, but it wouldn't be optimal. How about a 25Hz box, adjust size accordingly to get a reasonable port size.

Shiva-X, 2x Tempest-X, 2x Maelstrom-X2, MiniDSP etc

Hey Neo,

Can you update this thread with feedback on whether the Dayton UM18-22 and UM15-22 from Parts Express might work well with this box?

Also how would they compare to the TC sounds 15" LMS-R on output?

Both drivers will work, the UM 15 should pair nicely with the BASH 500.

Hi,
The ULX 18" will work but with the low Q the HPF will need to be ~11-12, as below tuning excursion rises rapidly... Look for 3kw in amp to get this to x-max, and try not to spank it. biggrin.gif You might inquire about a re-cone kit...

Corrected HPF setting, I had a setting wrong in my SW...

Dan

mic2200 currently set at 10Hz so that shouldn't be that far off and I have a nu6000dsp for two of 'em. Seriously thinking of putting both in sealed and integrate with the Mal
