I think it would be benefical to group all the Tuba Home Theater subwoofer build threads together when you get a chance? Thanx!

i suppose the list is getting large enough that segmenting it might make some sense. given that everybody will want to carve it up in different ways, i'm still noodling what makes the most sense. maybe i will just breakout all horns as a first, very rough, sort that most everyone could agree with. it seems stupid that such a trivial database sorting app hasn't found its way into discussion fora yet, oh well, i'll see what i can do.

the problem is that everybody will want a different cut.

some will want size.

some will want cost.

some will want efficiency.

some will want extension.

some will want max spl at single hz.

some will want max spl at teens hz.

some will want max spl at 20hz.

some will want a specific design (sealed/ported/horn).

and so on.

given that there are a boatload of ways of "slicing and dicing" the builds, i'm not really sure that it makes sense to try to sort them. i suppose some sort of cluster analysis might work, but that seems like overkill for what i had in mind here.

i'll noodle your comments.

Wouldn't some form of organization be better than none?

Yeah I know its alphabetical, but that does no good when the sort starts with user names, first names, "THE", thread topics, driver model #s, subwoofer pet names, ect.

Makes most sense to me to organize by alignment, as this is most DIYer's fork in the road to make comparisons on.

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps!

after noodling it hard, i don't think any ordering makes sense.

the reason is that any person can make an equally valid rationale for another sort.

for example, should horn subs be grouped with their efficiency counterparts, their cost counterparts, or their response counterparts?

this kind of argument grouping / comparisons is without end.

everybody will have a different (and valid) opinion.

maybe it would be best to tag each build so that it can be easily sorted by users.

if someone wants to pull out all the tht builds that should be easy, even though at the moment it is impossible.

let me noodle that for a while. i see where you are coming from.

ten years from now, we will look back on this problem and laugh...

price and difficulty come to mind.

and/or maybe driver/enclosure size since thats a good comparison.

the size one would help with "approval factor"

But for now a decent description helps.
maybe change the links to just the names then add a sentence or two after for a summary.

just a few ideas

I like this idea for sub arrangement. You select a driver and have all of the different possibilities using that driver listed together. This would not be the greatest for a person that wanted to look at only THTs for example, but it is great for those that already have drivers and want to look at other possibilities. Also great for those that come across a good deal on a driver and want to know what they can do with it. Might need both though. Theater Shack is set up this way, Driver based and configuration based. Makes for extra work on your end, but it is nice for searching through.

I'm not sure I remember what life is like without having this build. Besides, do I have the record for the longest time to build a subwoofer yet?

Thanks. I'll try to have it finished in the next week or two. It's been a long build, but not as long as corock's. (It was his build that started on another site that inspired my build)

roger that gmichael, i've never been one to nudge folks, but a midrange egg actually holds much more potential than a bass egg. don't we all love mother nature and what she can do off axis? ;-)
