I am just thinking why not 4 THT's or 4 easybuttons.

The room/house/neighborhood just isn't big enough to need what you're building.

Hell the room it isn't big enough to need two THT's

I have twice that space and I can make dishes rattle one floor up with 2 Paradigm DSP 3400's, I can't even imagine how my two Easybuttons will sound next week when my drivers arrive.

If a pregnant woman sat in that room for 2 mins the kid would come out cross eyed.

I am watching this with shock and awe.

Crazy in a crazy cool, but really overkill crazy way

Jeff

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're correct!

LOL

Seriously, add major major BRACING to these huge boxes. I would brace each 12 inches or so.

The baffles on such huge boxes should at least be 2.25" thick, and use bracing on the inside. The cabinets of any sub and speaker should be as inert, dead and flex the least possible.

Bass SQ starts with the proper driver installed in the proper volume cabinet, this providing the walls of the cabinet produce the least leakage possible(within reason).

Way to go on the huge subs. The cat will be scared! Our cat went crazy after I tested only the MJ18's near full excursion! Lets not talk LMSUltra/5400 going near excursion limits.

Subs are about having fun and overdoing.

Ask yourself mortal , do you have as much displacement as me ? The answer is no unless you have a Windmere fan sub.

Ya KW,
I would add about 2 dozen more 2x4s to those boxes.

There has to be some serious flex with panels that large.

That room shot with both boxes in there has to be in the hall of fame!

OR the one with your wife IN the enclosure!

Did you ever consider the DTS-10?

It will give you the single digits without all the floor space.

i would seriously think about taping the windows in that room just in case the glass breaks when you fire those subs up.

i would get some half inch plywood cut into 2 inch wide strips and honeycomb the interior walls.

I think you would have been safe building just one.

That way, all you have to do is fire the subs inside of it, and you'll have room for an LCR on one side and the surrounds in the back.

You can even put your screen in there.

It would need a door however.

i agree with the comments that many more internal braces are required or you will be losing a lot of "impact" to cabinet flex. since wood is relatively very, very strong as measured by compression against its length, you could use a bunch of 2x2's. i'd try to get a point of bracing every foot or so a few braces uses the # (tic tac toe shape) should improve things a lot and help keep weight down.

we are all curious to know where the heck you are going to put these things.

enjoying following your build...

with the narrow edge on the walls right, in order to minimize flex?

unless there is a door that is open to almost as tall as the ceiling, how are they even going to be tilted in order to me moved?

also, i like the idea by mr. winters in #107. something like that combined with a few braces across the beast should improve things significantly. or, if you want to get really simple and don't mind the weight, just pl some 2x4 with the 2" side along the walls that may flex. a big "X" extending out from the current reinforcement point may be good enough...well, it should improve things a lot.

Listen. It's All Good.
