The PDF says the the "2x4 advanced" supersedes the 2 way and 2 way 2.1, so that's what I downloaded.

Has anyone heard any updates on the availability date of the 2X4 balanced?

If I already have a signal booster and cables, would I be fine getting the unbalanced 2x4? I have a Cleanbox Pro and a Matchbox HD laying around. Would make wiring a lot easier.

What is a signal booster? Is that to compensate for the input gain loss of the Unbalanced MiniDSP?

And is there a difference between using a signal booster and simply the gain knob on the sub?

It would be used to compensate the lower output voltage from the unbalanced miniDSP. It also converts unbalanced connections to balanced. It would go between the MiniDSP and the amp.

I ran my unbalanced minidsp before the AVR. Problem solved!

I realize everyone can't do it like that, though. ..

Where can I find more info about such devices?

When you say between the MiniDSP and amp, do you mean the MiniDSP output and sub amp input?

How does that work? What would be the signal path?

I sent a message to MiniDSP support. They said they were expecting to start shipping the backlog 2x4 Balanced units starting this week.. New orders would probably be on a ~5 days lead time.

Hopefully they are in the mail soon!

Quick question. .... do we need to order the 12v power supply? I'm gonna purchase asap. Will get the mic and power supply if needed. Wasn't sure if it comes with one or if this is something different.

Assuming you are talking about the balanced 2x4, the 12v power supply is available for an added $10 on the ordering screen. Unless you have your own power supply, it is a good option to add.

I read more on the page and it said it was needed so I added it. Wasn't expecting $20 for shipping but it's on order.

Any opinions on this? I guess I could also sell the bump boxes and get the balanced version

I do this. I have my setup AVR->Line Level Converter -> Minidsp -> Line Level Converter -> XLS1500. I do this to prevent the minidsp from clipping on the input. I then boost on the output. Kind of a pain though. I probably should have just gone with an inuke but I didn't want to deal with changing the fan.

So if you haven't received yours yet or even a tracking number I am guessing they are backordered again.

I'm starting to think that as well. The order status shows confirmed. Think it should show shipped. I will email them Monday. The product page doesn't show backordered though. And in the FAQs, it says 5-6days to process order.

My computer is over 30' away from where the minidsp will be.
Am I going to have issues connecting a USB cable that long?
I would love to run it in the ceiling and down the walls but then the length would be in the 45-50' range.
