Was taking some measurements outdoors over the weekend and while everything was setup I gave the design some gas to see how it did at high volumes. You know that that means biggrin.gif

AWESOME!!! I've been debating wether to go seos or a different route all day today but this may have just sealed the deal. When can we expect these to be in stock? And will Erich be making flat packs for em?

Very impressive!!

How many watts was that? Or should I say what amp are you using to power the speaker? Alesis 500 or something else?

And perhaps will you do some more videos with some drums? Jazz or Metal or other?

Is there a thread? I looked in the diysoundgroup forum, but didn't spot it.

Builds: Maelstrom 21 Ottoman Build, Dual Opposed MFW's x 2, Statements, SEOS-12/TD12M x 5.

It's the SEOS 15 now.

The zooming out thing is funny. Are your neighbours like, WTF?? My neighbour calls it "talking to mars" when I do sweeps outside cause the first time she heard it she thought aliens were landing haha.

Wait a minute, is that mic sitting beside the speaker recording the sound....? tongue.gif

That's exactly what I thought people might think when I first saw the video.

Ya, I wouldn't doubt if people think that. But there's to many reflections in the recording for that to be the case.

Yes let it be said that the microphone recording the sound was on the camera. The speaker does sound much better in person, I am pretty sure the mic I am using on the camera slowly rolls off the top and bottom end of the spectrum (>5-8khz)/(<100hz).

It is still undecided whether this speaker will become the Fusion-15 or the Karma-15. Either way it goes I personally feel this design outdoes the previous Sentinel design along with the JBL 2226H and maybe even the current TD15m/SEOS-12 design of mine eek.gif. It is not that the woofer used here outperforms those but rather the crossover is much more refined and I have worked out some of the kinks in those older designs.

Power handling: Enough that you will run screaming from the room before you break the speaker or feel the need for more wink.gif Should be safe with 1000+ watt peaks if you are using a highpass. I was using a bridged Behringer A500 (375w @ 8 ohms) in that video and you can see how loud it gets.

Frequency response, -3dB is around 60hz, -6 around 45Hz (Half Space), In room you can expect extension down into the low 40's or lower if your room has good gain below that. Top end rolls off where the DNA-360/DE250 usually rolls off 18-18.5khz.

It is a 4 ohm woofer though throughout most of the range it stays above 5 ohms. Because of the sensitivity (~97dB @ 2.83v) a regular AVR will be quite capable of running these as it would put no more strain on it then running 8ohm speaker that is rated at ~94dB at the same volume level.

That box is 17" wide x 29" high x 15" deep.

I'm not sure when I will get the SEOS-10 or 15 uploaded to the site. Nothing from that last shipping container has even been listed yet. eek.gif

Things are so busy right now that I have to figure out a plan how to get all of this taken care of. I've temporarily taken down the Karma and Alpha models until there's better directions and proper documentation for everything. But all that did was push more people towards the Fusion Line. smile.gif

First, on behalf of all lurkers and newbs, *thanks* for everything you do.  It's pretty much the definition of mind-boggling, at least to me, to watch how much you're putting into all of this.  Just incredible.  I'm sure you get plenty of "why isn't this done yet!" and "hurry up!" ... but try to squelch any desire to strangle the pushy people with the knowledge that we're all just excited and enthusiastic. ; )  Many thanks to the designers and contributors, of course, too... but they don't have semi-tractor trailers showing up in their driveway!

I am new and ignorant in all this audio stuff, but the one thing I -can- do is generate documentation and content.  Unfortunately, I am a broke cheapskate, so would only be able to do one Karma kit, but if you want to sell one pre-release in exchange for my creating a build log/instructions/detailed description/something, PM me.  Wish there was more I could do to help, but, while I might have a few ideas, I'll stop myself from pontificating on how you could improve your business... you seem to get that enough! : )

Good luck with all the projects you're tackling, and thanks for all the hard work!  This whole project is just incredible....

One of those people would be me...just got the last trio of Fusion Sentinel V1's...LOL

If their performance is anywhere near MTG's demo, I'm in great shape! I dont think I'll have upgrade envy anytime soon!

Oh they will be smile.gif The diysoundgroup speakers use Pro components that are made for doing what MTG's video shows. Put them in your HT and get read for a real treat biggrin.gif

So will there be a Tempest v.2.0 design on the way too?  Or will the tempest be the tried and true speaker of the line???

They're all good speakers. The only reason the Fusion-15 was changed was due to the price we were shooting for. The past Fusion-15 is still a beast of a speaker, just too much money for the Fusion Line.

ok...so when will the fusion-15 sentinel v2 be available for order on your site?? I mean a complete kit including flat packs and crossovers...not like how you are handling the 1099

Also Erich do you have anymore information on the dual 8 SEOS15(I think) center channel?

You ave posted the one pic and thats about it. I am trying to simulate my version but cant get a port dimension that will allow me to cross the woofers over at 1000hz. SO I am curious what your dimensions are for your ports.

Newbie qUestion; but at least I'm not asking "Erich, when are you going to?..." as long as volume remains unchanged, can you change the box to fit your own room (obviously seos - woofer dimension unchanged). Just need a very shallow design to fit my seos15 behind my AT screen.

Changing the height (below the woofer) and depth are OK but not so much the width.

Wow, Sentinel V2 looks awesome!

I have a pair of SEOS15's itching to go into a flat pack + assembled crossover. Can't wait to see SEOS15 kits become available! I may even upgrade from my SEOS TD12X towers.
