I could certainly get those made up if people thought it made sense. Might make some speakers easier to sell later down the road because they would look more legit.
pgwalsh and NWCgrad like this.

IMHO: I think one of the beauties about the DIY aspect is that it is built for and by you. No company names, models or stickers on the thing. I like it blank and only the speakers and finish choice being the eye candy. I don't need my speakers to look legit and some generic consumer product

I second this...

Although for people who wants labels, sure, why not?

I think a logo with the basic info is sufficient (something that can be printed out) so that years down the road, when my memory's fading, I can figure out what I built.
NWCgrad likes this.

I really like the idea of labels. I built some bookshelves from Madisound about 8 years ago that I wish I could remember what they were(without pulling them apart) because I have thought about making another set.

Another idea... it would be kind of cool to be issued serial numbers.

What about also having stats on quantity of kits sold or sold per year so you don't have to update as often... Might help spur sales too for those not sure if anyone built them before...

Eric once said he had hundreds (maybe 200 or so, or more) of the mids... so, perhaps 100 plus 1099 sold?

Funny thing was he said it'll take a long time to sell out.. .hehe!

Why? About the only thing they're good for is warranty issues and tracking down gray market sellers, neither of which is applicable with DIY.

I'm sure you would be free to not put them on, but a label at least shows that a professional designed the thing and isn't just you selecting random crap from speakers R us.com or something and slapping it together. You can't take credit for the SEOS / Fusion designs just because you glued up a few boards and painted the box.

I never once said anything about taking credit for someone else's design work. I don't appreciate such a comment as well. I said imho, I like it to be sleek and without the clutter of a logo. I also never said I have a problem if they created one, it's just my preference to have a clean look. I completely understand why others don't. I also remove the dealer stickers and such off my car. Do you think I go around saying I designed the car myself?

Opinions aside, you shouldn't make accusations and assumptions that people are trying to take credit for something they aren't.

It's just fun to know how many are out there.

The AudioKarma EconoWave project kept track of builds:

I remember reading Erich mentioning that there were hundreds of Tempests out there. Kind of surprised me. I'm curious as to the actual numbers.
