Any thoughts up the 2012 upcoming IPR amps?

http://peavey.com/products/proaudio/poweramps/ipr/

If the 5000/7500 series are even close to legit, it would set forth a remarkable value for those of us with passive subs.

I imagine the 6lb unpacked weight for the 7500 is a typo considering the 1600 is 9lbs.

The IPR 7500 DSP Power Amp boasts 3,750 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. Featuring 2 channel independent fourth order Linkwitz-Riley crossovers, a variable-speed fan housed in a lightweight aluminum chassis, DDT speaker protection, and the revolutionary new IPR class D topology.

.... all in one FUGLY case!

Wasn't there an IPR6000 at some point??

Another typo found - they claim 3750/channel at 4 ohm on the DSP model's main ad, when the non-dsp says the same @ 2 ohms. Hopefully their efforts are focused on getting the amp out the door and not updating the site.

I'm not a huge fan of the looks either, but this thing can be hot pink and I'll still rock it proudly if it puts out those numbers at that price, heh.

I don't think the IPR6000 ever came to fruition. Hopefully this one actually does. A few sites claim they will be in stock the week of January 11th. If that's true, I'll probably be ordering one to play with.

Thought it rolled off at 16hz or something along those lines and required a tweak? Was it Noah that bought one and figured that out? Can't recall...

There was a component change between when the 3000's rolloff was first discussed and early (or maybe any) production models that made it down only a dB or two at 10 Hz, and I measured rated full power at that freq.

Good to know - I had read a 'rumor' of this, but good to see it's been confirmed.

Really hoping the 7500 will release sometime soon. Hopefully there is a way to disable those blue led's, heh.

Is this also true for the DSP units? Did you post your measurements?

Dunno, but I assume the amp sections are the same.

Look at the Peavey power amp forum. When asked about all the delays in delivering the higher power IPRs to market, all you will hear is the same answer -quantity and quality parts availability. ?????????

Must be some real special hard to make parts to force a big player like Peavey to wait for 2+ years

I believe the new timeline sets summer as street release date for the new IPR series. Gorilla83 got that from one of the resellers.

That delay made made my mind up to jump on the uniquesquared deal for the Crown XLS5000 for $550.

They had a deal for $530ish
http://slickdeals.net/f/3743320-Crow...ped-Half-Price

The 10% off coupon for new members is now dead.

A couple weeks back they had a "make an offer" button.
I offered ~$530 they countered with $575. After playing back and forth a couple times they took $550.

If you e-mailed them and offered them $550 they might take it again, since they took my offer.

The ones at UniqueSquared are manufactured in 2008, so new old stock. (at least both Gorilla's and mine were 2008 manufacture date.)

We'll see if/when they get here, but one thing people should consider is that they're they're going to have much higher input sensitivity than the IPR1600 and 3000. Peavey's lead amp designer wrote the following on the Peavey forum:

Quote:
Originally Posted by JD View Post

The higher powered models go back to the x40 gain standard. ***
We are still unresolved as to what the gain should be for the DSP models. Headroom versus S/N is the consideration.

Source

Not really a worry, just something to think about. I bet there will be a few "my IPR 3000 sounds louder than my IPR 7500" threads if the bigger ones ever get released.

The IPR-based product that's more interesting to me (and also equally vaporware at this point) is the Crest ProLite line. Mostly because it takes the same technology but puts it in a more visually appealing package.

I think you mean lower - gain of 40 is lower than 75

When I talked to crown tech, they said they technically still consider it a current/supported model, but have stopped producing it. He also mentioned the closest model would now be something in the xti-6000 series.

I wouldn't wait too long. Their eBay stock is down to one unit and they since noted stock is getting lower on their site. FYI.
