I had to wait a week before my amp came in to power my sub....Horrible feeling

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

Man, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer! When are you putting the next Clone on order? As always, I'll be checking back frequently for status updates.

I'm still having to slow play this with the wifey. We had a house warming party last weekend and I had a few of my friends tell her that our setup sure could use some more LFE and a 120" projector.

You know it's a tough sell when you gotta call for backup...lol. We're wearing her down slowly.

Tell me about it. At least I have the one amp to break-in the 2 newer subs.

Its getting there bro, little by little. I had some unexpected bills come up these last few days so the 2nd clone amp is gonna have to wait a little while longer.

Since the 2nd map seems to be little while out, what do you guys think about me running the 4 subs off the single 14k?? I have each sub wired in series so theres a 4ohm load at each sub terminal. Im thinking of wiring each stack in series to produce an 8ohm load per channel for the FP14k and If i remember right the specs called for 2350 watts per channel.

What ya guys think? Am i waisting my time by doing this??

Who am I to weigh in but, technically wouldn't you just be negating your additional displacement by cutting your power in half?

Hey, I'd do it regardless. Do it... Do it...

Not really, he should add 3db by simply doubling cone area.

you gain 6db by doubling power and doubling cone area. Hes keeping power the same and doubling cone area

+1

The system becomes more efficient, more efficiency means less watts are needed for a given spl.

Learn me here guys.

Am I really keeping the same power?? I thought going the 8ohm route id go down to 2350watts per channel, then that's getting split to 2 LMS's. How does power vs. efficiency work out here??

I thought long and hard before I posted my response. He is not going to see a 4 ohm load to each channel. It's going to be an 8 ohm load.

So double the cone area and half the power.

vs.

+3db with the same power
+6db with double the power

Shaboom.. That's the logic I'm talking about.

Seems like the same output would obviously more effortless (for the subs anyway) with that much more displacement. Reducing the ohm load should technically be less stress on the amp, correct?

One sub @ 4,400w power = 0 dB gain
Two sub @ 4,400 each power = 6dB gain (extra power AND cone area/displacement)
Two sub @ 2,200 each power = 3dB gain (extra cone area/displacement)
Two sub @ 1,100 each power = 0dB gain (extra cone area/displacement negates power loss)

If that makes sense

*shrugs*

My Dual 18" LLT subs 120dB down to 10hz

Got it. Eric will be going with the last option you presented because it's an 8 ohm load. I think we're on the same page.

When he get's his second amp and each channel sees a 4 ohm load, he'll get his 6db gain he's looking forward too...

Call me master of the obvious, lol.

Maybe the LG clone would be even more stable at 8ohms on each channel.. idk.

Less power going through 4 drivers should still be better overall simply due to 4 drivers barely moving to get same effect as 2 drivers moving a lot. At least youre breaking in the drivers too

There is no reason NOT to run all 4 subs while waiting for the second amp. Sure it's not the headroom he is after but it will play to the same levels with less cone excursion and less strain on the amp. He can also loosen up the new subs and make sure they function perfectly.

Love the movie. Its a movie I wouldn't mind seeing again. Really curious how one of the scenes will sound at home on a true 3-120hz subwoofer.

Has anyone here ever heard the Danley DTS 10 SUBWOOFER KIT? I have 3 of them and wonder how they would stack up against 4 of these LMS ULTRA 18 IN sealed enclosures just as this thread is now.

In a 4 LMS ULTRA sealed System does it really dig down to 3 htz? What htz would you put in a hpf?

Last I would love to demo a 4 sub system like this. What state are you located in and would you welcome a demo?

You dont need a Hpass on the Ultra unless your maxing them out. Not has a Hpass filter but he probably doesn't really need it.

MK had 2 DTS10 kits and now has a bunch of 18's also.

Ricci said even 2 ultras would have a hard time outgunning a single DTS 10 so I'd say you're gonna need some more displacement to make a lateral move in terms of output.

what I want to know is will 2 of these sealed 18 LMS ULTRA outperform 2 of the DTS 10'S? MK can you respond? How do you think 4 of these will sound verses 3 dts 10's?

In a room measuring 16 feet wide and 21 feet deep and 9 foot ceilings what db should I be able to achieve in movies from my seating position which would be 14 feet from my listening position?
