I always see posts about bass friendly music / dubstep so I thought I'd make a thread.
Feel free to post songs as well.

Infected Mushroom (whom I'm sure a lot of you have heard of) has an new album coming out in May. It's focused a lot more around Dubstep as opposed to their usual psytrance / techno style.

That being said, this video is so messed up that it's funny. I quite enjoyed the song as well.

Hah, you sound like my old man ( sorry if that makes you feel older ).

He keeps what's left of his record collection of 45's at my house. Nothing beats the classics. He'd probably just say it sounds like noises and not music.

Some songs just have an awesome beat, kind of just gets you pumped up, and in a good mood.

That's why I think I like it anyways...

Rammstein? of course

I like them as well. I've got the Sehnsucht album laying around here somewhere, and the rest on Itunes.

Couple friends saw them live, said they put on one of the best shows they've ever seen. Complete with pyrotechnics and craziness through and through.

I'm in Canada so the A-10 is probably still more advanced then what we have

I don't know, man - I am 22 years old and everyone in my age bracket goes nuts for this stuff. EVERY college party and/or related event has this stuff playing nonstop, and it just does not appeal to me.

I guess all the brainwashing my parents did when I was younger has lead to my appreciation of music that actually requires/involves a musician and the skill it takes to play his/her instrument, rather than pushing buttons and making some electronic noises. It all sounds like static to me...

No reason to apologize.
I've learned so much from your posts in the last few years, we'll call even

I posted it because there's bass-heads around here and I've seen some similar threads that got lost somewhere.

I could have just made a thread called "AWESOME MUSIC WE ALL LIKE", but then it wouldn't be as relevant to DIY. Well maybe a bit

Dude LOL how old are you. Im 39 and love dubstep. Its pretty much the only music which gets thrashed out every weekend. Ive just given a friend off mine over 30 gb of dubstep and now he's happy as larry.

I do prefer more vocal dubstep and the UK is great for its vocal dubstep.

Nero is another great one for that.

I've been creeping that thread since the beginning, practically got the friends excited to build something as well.
That song is aired SO much here. Still pretty good.

I've always wondered what Americans think of Nickleback?
I don't mind Chad Kroeger but most Canadians aren't fans of Nickleback, or Bieber

Hey man, that wasn't Nickleback........or Bieber. I can lay claim to never hearing that kid talk or sing. I don't watch TV at all. Late year one of my friends said his daughter like Bieber, I had no clue who he even was.

LOL, I know. I didn't mean to sound like I was implying it.

I don't watch T.V. much either and my only time hearing him was with my niece (she's 9).
I just figured I'd ask about Nickleback because Chad is in that song.

P.S can't wait for the 15"-18" sub boxes.

It takes plenty of skill to create this music and just because their instruments are electronic doesn't mean they aren't real instruments. A piano is just buttons too.

Funny, I remember having this conversation with people back in the day when Chicago house & Detroit techno came out. Dance music will always face that prejudice, even when it's made by geniuses. I'm no musicologist, but I suspect that perhaps beat-driven music is harder for people to process and differentiate.

dubstep seems like it was a natural progression from what we used to call techno or rave when I was younger. I like some of it but it gets old pretty quick to me. When I want to hear bass I reach for some old stevie b or magic mike or something similar. I do have to admit that dub takes more skill than rap. A lot more.

That's like comparing Nascar and F1. It's unfair to make the comparison.

Both have their individual qualities that make them difficult and require skill.
That goes for the rap vs. dubstep and Nascar vs. F1.

I wasn't a huge fan of the song, but I do like me some dubstep. The obnoxious profanity being a theme of the song didn't help me either.

My musical tastes are... diverse. I listen to Jazz, Classical, Metal, Alt Rock, and Dubstep, and sometimes all in the same day. I don't really listen to country or pop music. I hate LMFAO, Lady Gaga, etc. I am 30.

I can't speak for all Americans but I hate Nickelback. They are a scourge on the face of rock music. All their songs sound the same, the lyrics are sophomoric at best and pretty much are all about sex (which is why they are so popular?), drinking, and acting like teenagers. WITH the exception of a few songs, which I think are decent. "Never Again" for example. Then again they have sold millions of albums so you can't deny their popularity. I think some people don't really critically listen to music or the lyrics and so they've never realized how lame Nickelback is. There is no ingenuity or origionality to anything they've done- but the same can be said about many bands.

33 and really dig on some dubstep if its executed well.

Skrillex's two most recent albums are two of my most favorite to demo the system along with Metallica Black album, PF DSOTM, Korn follow the leader, and the classical stuff on Hsu setup
cd for reference.

Might be a stretch to dubstep but a VJ friend in Co turned me onto Bonobo recently and its some of the coolest chill music ive heard recently that still has some bass.

Dub step is ok , but it gets old. Trance, progressive house, vocal house, etc... are all way more musical because you can dance to it. No krumping required.

Pounding on a piano isn't music though, unless you're Aphex Twin.

If all you listen to is mainstream rap then yea, I would say dubstep takes more skill. Some of that crap is just insanely stupid. Now get into more underground scene, as in Sunspot Jonz, Grouch and Eligh, stuff like that? Their lyrics actually make sense and actually rhyme without having to twist words, with typically a cool new twist on a famous old sample.

DJ I think you and me are going to get along great!!! haha, I have some friends with bad music taste, they all like Nickelback, but they are also all a little slow, and cant comprehend anything beyond what Ryan Seacrest's top 20 says they should listen to. It is sad, there should be support groups for that. Im going to have surgical earplugs installed in my children's ears should I ever have any to prevent them from listening to what their peers listen to. haha, only kidding there, but I truly am scared where popular music is going. It is now to the point with computer adjustments, ANYONE can walk to a nice studio and lay down some track and sound like Mariah Carey or Patti Labelle or Freddy Mercury. C'mon!

You see any new Jimi Hendrix's or Stevie Ray Vauhgns on the horizon? its all going to crap. And im only 28!!!!

Agreed with DJ about Nickleback, and music diversity.

If you are saying that one of the "dubstep DJs" (I don't even know what their correct title would be!) has the same musical skill and talent as a pianist, then you are clearly not taking your prescribed medication...
