...or at least the TD18Hs are according to my invoice. Let's hear some build plans! This is exciting! Congrats to John.

Glad for you guys! The latest John wrote was that the ship with parts for the rest of the drivers have not left port in China yet!

Man, that was quick!

Invoice only, or tracking number?

I received my tracking number a couple of hours after I made the final payment. It will be interesting to comapre it to my JBL 2242's and 2245.

Spoke to a buddy, got his invoice on 4-10 for (2) of the TD18 drivers, no tracking number yet. It's only been a week, though.

I received mine yesterday. I have options including a 10 cu ft ported box or a 7 cu. ft. sealed. I'm leaning towards the ported because it models so closely to my 2242's and they are ported.

Curious. I had talked with John yesterday regarding my own custom drivers and it came up in discussion that he had shipped TD18s (8 Ohm versions) out to all who had paid their invoices. My guess would be an e-mail issue with the tracking notice.

Good to see a few like Wrager receiving some drivers.

Good looking drivers. Put them in your 2242 boxes and give them a go. They shouldn't need much tweaking. I'm curious to read your impressions relative to the 2242. IMO you have two of the three best 18" woofers for ported applications (other being the B&C 18SW115). The TD18H is the best value though.

Nice you got your drivers!

6 months and counting for the vast bulk of the Group Buy drivers to be delivered. The basic steel parts for the GB haven't even shipped from China yet.

Max-what are your thoughts on the 2245 vs. the 2242? Just curious...

I actually have 2245's myself. The big downside to the 2245 is the lack of mechanical excursion. You definitely need to be more careful. The Fs is lower which has some advantages, but IMO JBL improved things when they made the 2242. If you aren't looking for sub 20hz frequencies, it is hard to beat them the way JBL uses them in a HT. Of course, you might best them with the TD18H, but outside of that I don't see it.

As far as sonic differences go, I've never heard them head to head. IMO you will only hear differences from about 100hz and up assuming they are both within their limits.

Not to drive this thread off topic but ...

I am curious. Why is it that the Selenium 18SWS800 is never spoke of in these conversations? It compares well to the JBL 2242H and can be had for $230

6.5mm xmax and 3.87mh LE? Personally I'd be looking at the Eminence Kilomax Pro-18 or B&C 18TBX100

Because most pro style drivers are not being used around here. Not much talk about bass units other than 'subs' around here. It is a good driver for the price though, you're right.

Yea but ...

The Selenium 18SWS800 is ruler flat and down 3dB in an 8.5 cu ft ported cabinet and that sure is convenient. JBL Cinema subwoofer cabinets have an internal volume of 8 cu ft. The Selenium drivers will bolt right in and function well without mods.

Yeah but... The TD18H is ruler flat to way up high, so good it could in fact be a two way with a WG/CD! It has heaps more excursion, handles masses of power and as mentioned has incredibly low Le. I've compared a lot of 18" drivers and it does reproduce all of the musical content more accurately across it's operating range than other 18"s. It may be more expensive than some drivers but it is way better.

Oh yeah, it looks great too

So, where should I low pass it? I have the 2242's at 125 hz. I guess I need to play around and bust out the OM.

First, try it at the same X-over. Then after that, try every other option.

How would the TD 18 model in a sealed box as the bottom section of a three way. Can anyone do some modeling.

^^ F3 = 96Hz at Qt = 0.707. It's a low Q driver so F3 will be high sealed, but it has gobs of power handling and excursion and could be EQ'd much, much lower.
