Hi everyone
Welcome to my thread.

I'm looking for some cheap but quality speakers for music only in my basement. I currently have 2 12" 150 rms 300 max 4 ohm 23-250 Hz subs. I enjoy these subs. I'm wanting to build a full range speaker. I've been looking at the tritrix components. Would they sound good together? Im thinking a 30"x15"x8" transmission line cabinet for the tritrix and a 15"x15"x8" for the sub. A total box of 45"x15"x8". OR 36"x15"x8" TLC 13"X15"X11" sub. Total of 50"x15"x11". Or front firing 50"x15"x15". How I'd finish them is the secret.

Side firing or front firing sub?

Would a simpler 3 way sound better?

I'm open to other thoughts on drivers, speaker design, anything. I'm a noob (23y famly man) that loves music. There will be alot of questions.

My goals are cheap. Sound good at low volumes but still sound good cranked. I listen to all kinds of music. I have 30,000 songs in my iTunes. Around 200 CD's also. Rock country twang oldies surf under ground rap Irish folk/drinking some classical. I really have a very wide taste. Sometimes I plug my phone in for Pandora or the very rare netflix/youtube videos.

I haven't picked my amp /or receiver yet (see my other thread). All the units I'm looking at are around 50- 110w rms x2. With 4+ speaker terminals.

I'm thinking I'd like to drive the speakers off both channels. Kinda like bi-amping?

I'm a complete novice when it comes to DIY but this doesn't sound like a bad system:

Please tell me what happened in this night.
It's like the cat inside the box.

You don't know if the cat in the box is dead or alive.

Please tell me what happened in this night.
The cat in the box was dead.

My budget is 150 maybe 200 on components. The tritrix kit is 125. Audio quality vs price? Lets hear the thoughts

DIY is great and all, but at around $150/PR, you may want to keep an eye on the used market for some towers by jbl, infinity, psb, etc...

I see your budget, but the great thing about the tritrix deal is the MLTL flatpack tower. $150 budget is fine for components, but don't discount the time and effort to buy, cut and fit the wood.

Regardless, act fast. Special price ends 4/30 per my cart.

Have fun,
Frank
