I'm looking at building a center channel and would like some recommendations of which speakers I should use. I wanted to build a WWTWW similar to the Klipsch RC-64.

I've been looking at speakers for a couple of days now and don't know which ones I should get.

Thanks for any suggestions

Budget? Are you also building a front L/R?

Here's a starter

I'm building the Stentorian's for my LCR in my HT, can't wait for the weather to warm up and get more work done on them!

I looked at those and thats what I want to build when I build my towers. I guess i'm looking at spending no more than 200 max not counting building materials. I want good quality but don't want break the bank. Will I need to keep with the same speakers when I go to build my towers?

I'm not sure I follow. The Stentorians can be built as a center/stand-mount speaker, or a tower

Thanks Jay1, I didn't see that part of it. I know in that design he mentioned about using a 6" Aura woofer. Are they any good? Would Dayton's make good center speakers?

Yes those Aura's actually are pretty good. They lack low bass, but this design has 6 of them, which is more surface area then a 12" woofer.

Which dayton center are you referring to?

I'm just talking about the 6 1/2 woofers for the centers. Or maybe Dayton 5 1/4?

You cant swap woofers like that. The crossover was designed with those Aura woofers and Vifa tweeter, it will not work with any other drivers. That goes for every published design out there that does not specifically say certain drivers can be swapped.

Thanks for being patient and helpful. I get that, throw the design out of the picture, would the Daytons be good for the center channel.

If you could find a properly designed crossover, the reference series daytons are very good. The older classics aren't anything special, but can still perform well if properly implemented. There are tons of designs out there using all the dayton drivers.
