I have no idea how to build a box I was going to go down to a local car stereo store and tell them what I'm wanting to do and have them make me a box.

So I picked up a ipr 3000 for my amp. I went to talk to a local shop about making me a box and the told me that tuning my box to 20hz was to low and that 32hz would be better I really have no clue about making a box.

If I go with a sealed box do I need to worry about a hpf?

Well of course a car audio shop isnt going to understand what you're doing. Give them the box dimensions you want and tell them to build it.

Sealed doesn't need a HPF for the reason's a ported sub does, it is possible you could need one if you're giving them to much power down low.

if you are going sealed, the bracing wont make a big enough difference to matter. assuming even moderate amounts of bracing, youll be just fine

http://www.hometheatershack.com/foru...me-calculator/

Use the box calculator for bracing, just enter the WxHxD and thats it. If you were to use a 2x4(1.5x3.5") that is 18" long as a brace, the volume that would take up is 1.549 liters.

Ok so if I account for the bracing and make my box a little bigger isn't it going to change my port size?

When building the box would I use a nail gun or would I be better off with screws?

Never used anything other than screws and good ole PL premium. works great but does add to some hole puttying if you are going for a really good looking box. nail guns seem like the next logical step though

Bracing will affect tuning but not by much unless you go crazy with the braces. A simple crossbrace is only around 2-5l.

I am looking to possibly build a box on my own and was wondering if these specs would be ok.
5.80ft^3 tuned to 21Hz with a slot vent 3.5"x15"x47.5"
the box would be made with 1" MDF and be 24"W x 37"H x 15"D
