Ok, so Im planing on getting new speakers by mid/end of summer. I would like to get a speaker kit and have been looking at the dayton kits on parts express. The limited user reviews have been positive so thats good. But what kit to get? Budget is $400. Doesnt have to be dayton but does need to have everything ready to go. I cant build my own cabinets and I cant solder worth a darn.

Some info -
No sub will be used. Just dont have the home for that right now
Amp is HK3490
Music played - 70's rock, 80/90 metal, 90's grunge, 00's rock/metal
These will also be used for movies and I hate speakers that blow out deep male voices. I need voices to sound natural.

Right now Im using a pair of Cerwin Vega LS-8. I like the sound for the most part but it's time for an upgrade

Is that budget for a pair of speakers? Which kit do you have in mind?

yep 400 for the pair. Was looking at the RS722 and RS621 but Im open to any kit that has the crossover and cabinet already assembled.

I got one of the rs722 kits a few months ago when they ran it for $250 to use as a center and I am constantly amazed by it. I kick myself for not getting 3 or 4 more of them. It's a great sounding speaker that looks great too. Keep in mind though that the $350 price tag they have on it is just for one speaker.

Yeah, like overdrive said most of those kits are priced as 1 ea. The rs621 is a small woofer sealed box, so I dont think it will do well without a sub. You're kind of in a tough price range requiring an assembled cabinet, a lot of the big DIY value comes from a 4' x 8' sheet of wood only costing $35. This ZA5.3 kit is probably your best bet...
