Was just wondering if anyone has experience with the insides of this sub and know if additional stuffing would be beneficial in any way. Have my sub being delivered today to replace my lowly Orb Super 8 (before the amp upgrade).

Thanks.

Sealed or vented? If sealed additional stuffing will lower Q and may improve it, but if you don't have gear to measure Q and/or FR it's a trial and error exercise to find out.

It is a ported box with a 12" speaker. The dimensions of the box are 2.5 cubic feet.

Then it should only be lined, not stuffed.

That sub could benefit greatly from an increase in apparent box volume. If you get some thick fiberglass insulation and line over the walls again (hot glue around the corners of each panel), without blocking the port, you should achieve this.

Doing so will lower Q and change the box tuning, which isn't necessarily a good idea.

It is for that sub, which has a high inductance peak around 50-60hz and a fairly steep roll off to 30hz. Raising volume should give it more capability where most people want it, down low. It might be possible to damage the sub if to much output is gained of course.

Has anyone actually added polyfill and found an audible difference with this sub?

What dimensions are you using for ft^3 calculation? I think i recall it was tuned to somewhere like 27-30hz by the length/size of port.

I messed around with a broken one by slapping a lms-r and vmp-12 into it. Great extension and response, just output was not that of a ported which i was wanting.
