At our GTG they sounded like someone turned the eq up as high as possible between 2 and 4 khz, it was like a very sharp needle going into your brain.
There is NO way what you heard at MK's is what we heard in my room.
Awesome stuff guys, love that video - want to see more!

Yah something was definitely off if at -30MV it bothered you. What were they hooked up to? Some receivers are known for not mating well with bright speakers. I know I had Polk Rti towers and they were bright when turned up too loud and I couldn't take it. It hurt my ears. I know a lot of people who had them said you need to feed them some good power for them to sound their best. I'm just wondering if James' amp and room played the major factor. His room is pretty dead. It's carpeted with plenty of treatments as well. His amp is a high end unit so I'm sure that helped.

I'd be interested to see how they sound in my room.

Unless I run over 130 dBs I won't. I never go over 125 dBs during a movie and that is running hot. There is a reason I do multiples.

MK how do you have your speakers wired to achieve the mono load? What's the final impedance?

I have them wired in parallel for a 4 ohm load to the amp. I have one amp channel powering both and the DCX doing it's thing. They sound awesome for movies. Adding the T-39's does make an improvement as the midbass gets more powerful. All the Cabs are an 8 ohm load so I thought about adding a T-39 to the bottom of my arrays but 3 speakers will make it a weird load but my amp can handle down to 2 ohms no problems. This amp ran eD 190v2's sealed with 2 ohm loads to 122 dBs at 10hz.

Oh, I am sorry I thought you meant the speakers not the subs. The subs are all wired together to get a 6.3 ohm load on a bridged 14K.

I am not sure what I bought but I am sure it is in an email somewhere. I did all the research and talking with eD before putting this together. I can tell you that the 190v2 has more displacement on paper but in my room they had more only from 25hz and up, under 25hz these have more.

Man, that is getting very dangerous in there. Lots of punch from the mains? Plus the bottom in 2100 cubic feet. Good job. I have been out of the loop for a while. Trying to catch up. I missed a lot.

Talk to you soon,

Robert

The mains are incredible!

I am selling my sub system with amp for $3700. $500 per sub and $700 for the clone. This has been by far my best system. I need to clear some room for other things so I need to sell the subs. I am not sure what the next system will be but it will be a down grade for now, still awesome but not at this level.

If I didn't live 20 hours away I would have taken 2 of the subs off your hands. My wife even liked them, we'll the small footprint anyways. Good luck.

Yeah, I really love them but I have some things I have to take care of so I need to downgrade the sub portion of the theater for now.

Shipping freight would be about $500 for 1200 pounds on one pallet.

Yeah let me know. That was a guess. They came on one pallet in separate boxes. Of course that was the whole system. The system cost is basically $400 per sub which gives you two awesome drivers and one helluva cabinet. Some of them could use some TLC like sanding and I never painted them. I mean for $400 each they are recessed with EFS(fancy MDF).

That's not a problem, I would veneer them to match the two I already have. wink.gif

One gallon of Duratex would cover all of those I think for whomever might buy them.

MKtheater, sorry to hear you are selling these, what are your immediate plans for sub woofage?

Well, I first started my making an array so they are all on the same plane. Then I wired them up as one subwoofer meaning I ran one interconnect from my sub out to my DCX and one from my DCX to the clone amp. So adjusting all was simple, of course this means all the subs are identical and wired correctly. I then went into the DCX and played around with the phase and delays.

I do have a gallon of the stuff from eD which I never used.

Well, right now I have to go cheap but I want lots of output so options are limited. I am thinking cheap horns or LLT's again. After going from the CHT's to the F-20's and back to the CHT's I did miss the 12 dBs of extra output at 10hz the CHT's provided. I think I need at least 10hz for me to be somewhat satisfied. I am thinking huge sonos again since they worked so well for me and they were super cheap and easy to assemble.

MK, how did you mount your JBL surrounds to your wall? I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to mount my big waveguide surrounds.

I don't think I will be able to to do a floating sheet rock wall as they would just rip rite out of the rail.

My JBL surrounds came with wall mounting brackets that just screwed into studs.
