So I had some spare parts and mdf lying around and a few days left until I ship out to basic so I decided to get one last project done. I had 4 Silver Flute 6.5s lying around that used to be in my car until I replaced them with some Focals and a pair of Vifa BC25SC06's from a pair of line arrays using those 5.25 Sony buyout drivers that I never got around to finishing. I ordered the parts for the crossovers and some wood veneer that should be here tomorrow. They're going to be crossed over around 3.5khz. So here's some pictures.
So that's it? What volume are the cabs and what is your impression of them?
Not sure if you'll get a response from the OP, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents...
I just got done with a similar build using the SF W14RC25-04 (which is the 5.25" version) and the same tweeter as above the Vifa BC25SC06-04 in a TM configuration.
The box I made is approx 8L and tuned to 62hz. The xover is an acoustic LR4 at 2700hz and I tried to keep the parts county fairly low to keep cost down. I can post the schematic if you're interested. I think they turned out fantastic for my first xover attempt and sound very pleasing. They don't have a ton of bass, but I wasn't expecting much from a 5.25. The tweeter is very articulate and they image very well. Let me know if you've got any other questions.
