I finished up a sick outodor zone yesterday. Crystal clear and you can feel the bass in the concrete around the pool.

Parts:
(8) Tannoy Di5 outdoor speakers
(1) FaitalPRO HP510 18" Subwoofer in a tapered pipe prototype.
(1) Behringer EP2000
(1) Dayton SA-1000
(1) Sonos ZP120

The 8 Tannoys are spaced evenly around the pool running of the EP2000 in 2ohm stereo 80 up, and the SA-1000 runs the 4ohm FaitalPRO 18 in a tapered pipe/single fold tapped horn prototype I built as a test for the Zv3 18', mounted under the deck. Source is a Sonos zone Player that streams Pandora, internet radio, and syncs with their existing music library.

Of course I took some pics and vid!

Driver mounted in tapered pipe, painted with 25 year exterior grey:

Dude, suhweet! Looks and sounds like you have that whole pool area bathed in sound. Very nice.

How did the Faital sound in your tapped enclosure?

My Dual 18" LLT subs 120dB down to 10hz

Better than expected. The FH510 isn't their big one. Gives the Peavey low rider a run for its money in the price vs performance class. I want to test one of the higher performance units down the road and see how it compares to the B&C and RCF models.

Thats awesome. I was just thinking the other day of wanting to do something very similar to my backyard.. Was the bass pretty even around the yard?

How low does you sub go?

Sunfire brings back many memories.......smile.gif

Wi:.... Find something "mouse proof" for that sub !!!

mice will eat anything... I mean anything... speaker cones too.

On the farm, they use big block engines (ford 460,534, etc) to pump water on the fields. No matter how well the straight pipes are taped up, etc... in the fall, by the next spring mice have eaten through, and made a nest up by the exhaust valves....

My little brother takes great joy each year in adding a bit of starting fluid in the pipe (where the mice have eaten through) and starting up the engine....

flaming mice for 50 feet....

wonder how far that sub would shoot mice?

Honestly not quite as even as I would have liked at the other end of the pool because of the treeline and house creating all kinds of random reflections. If I had my choice I would have done one cabinet at each end of the deck, but the ground is so close at the other end that I wouldn't have been able to get an enclosure in there.

When I measured with the Zv3, the F3 was around 35. I don't have any measurements with the FaitalPRO, but it does sound pretty damn good for what it is.

We have a metal wire mesh and chicken wire going over the mouth, and it will be brought inside in the wintertime. Critters are definitely our primary concern.

Hopefully that will stop the critters getting in. Better would be a kick-proof metal grille and open cell acoustic foam glued behind it to stop other pests like spiders getting in.
