Yes indeed. This weekend I'll create a handful of tracks for sure. Everything from Thunder to a war zone, plus some more deep space horror ambiance. It should be a blast and when Halloween is over I'll use the tracks as a foundation for making a bunch of songs... This past week Getty images linked up with soundcloud.com for music licensing, essentially the day I been waiting for... a chance to make money off of my music - so you will be seeing quite a bit more productivity. Tracks are still free to download so long as it's personal use.smile.gif

All cool tracks man. I was listening to your sub breakin loop and found it to be more frightening than your Halloween mix... Is that weird?

Hey there,

Not weird at all. Halloween is for kids. The subwoofer track is just plain nasty! I thought I was going to churn out a few more scary ambience tracks, unfortunately Sandy came trick-or-treating... I just got power back.

It's been a minute, thanks to a superstorm named Sandy... but I've got a new foundation-shaker. Mid-tempo electronica with a dark sci-fi/techno vibe to it. Designed to move those cones, stretch those spiders>

Cool Man, thanks for postin the tracks. I've only been able to listen at -30dB cause the wife and baby are sleepin' but sounds are very cool, very interesting. My subs can handle and it fun to play a bit. Keep up the good work!

Aaaaawwww yeah... Revival!!

As many DIY projects that have been accomplished over the past 6 months, I'd love to hear more thoughts on these songs. My favorite track when I had my LMS-U's was "The Joy of Minimal." I'm going give it a listen again with my current subs. Mark, remind me again which songs dig down to the 5Hz region? IIRC you have some content that gets down to 3Hz, right?

Lol... Dubking has been too busy making appearances on talk shows and writing articles to focus on making more content for us bassheads.

Don't forget where you came from bro! Your infrasound roots!

Thanks Mark. Although it may not be the "ultimate" subwoofer test song it's still good. I noticed it gets a bit nasty around the 2:40, and then again at 4:20 or so. I like the staccato blasts you tossed in for the last 25 seconds.

Just tried this one for the first time. Basically verified that my signal chain goes that low. (Yes!) Can't really feel it much at -30dB unless you're real close but I can see the cones moving perty good at 5 Hz. Actually when I go into my IB "enclosure" (storage room) I can feel it more. It is much smaller than the listening room. With my old 15" Dayton ported and plate amp I wouldn't get sh*t below 20 Hz, even though the enclosure was tuned to 15 Hz.

Damn, I just had a thought. Maybe I should start watching movies in the storage room...biggrin.gif

Hmm, just blew up my sub on the 5-10-15hz track. My fault for pushing it. Anybody know of a factory recone kit for the RCF lf21n451? My search starts now.

It's all good. Learned a lesson on what not to do to my sub. The shop that re-coned it said that i had jumped the voice coil out of the gap.

Woah man!!!!!

What hz is that note centered at 2:48? I felt that big time, very cool. I have been telling people that I can't feel bass from 14hz and down in my room, if that is 14 or below then I will have to change my opinion on that. I'll play with the LPF on the minidsp and see when that note disappears.

Ok, so using the LPF on my minidsp I could feel that note at 2:48 with the low pass filter set on 11hz, but I could not feel it at 10hz. At 11hz it was very subtle but still pretty obvious

Going back up towards 20hz LPF 1 hz at a time it once again is amazing how much difference each 1hz increment makes. 12hz is so much more noticeable than 11hz, same with 13hz vs 12hz, and so on.

Finally when I got to 20hz I turned off the LPF. The amount of shaking of the couch, room, and me is very impressive.

Hmmm... well this particular track makes me think that I care about bass to 11hz instead of 14hz like I previously though. However I'm not positive about that because I wonder how much 11hz is completely masked with no LPF since the shaking is soooooo much greater between 15-25hz.

Sorry for the off topic, btw thanks so much for posting all of these - very cool to play with.

Interesting, I appreciate your perspective.

I too experience so much structural movement and potential masking, delineating the fundamentals is quite difficult, ... fun none-the-less cool.gif .

Yep - structural movement for sure - the only perceptible thing I get from 10hz down on that track is the house groaning/creaking and crying for mercy.

Yep .... also see my ceiling bouncing up and down, pulsing reactively to the big effects or subjective testing .... freaky as that's some significant excitation of a lot of mass.

Frankly, at my age, condition, and stage in life, I live for "freaky significant excitation" tongue.gif

Beating these tracks now. Track Jam Master Flash 2 had some nice low tones. Like many others, I perceive them more the hear them. I.e. Sitting down at my Kitchen center island and can feel the whole floor moving. While other loose objects in the room 'sing' along. smile.gif

Here is a Stereo-Bass system checker I created.

It's 20hz so be careful, but basically if you are using the LFE output on your AVR/Processor then it is likely summing the signal and thus you won't hear any bass (this is bad), OR if you hear anything other than a clean sinewave then your AVR isn't even summing the bass properly (even worse). If you're lucky it might be taking the absolute value of the two, which would also be an incorrect rendering of the signal (technically).

To play this file correctly requires two or more subwoofers, and not be in mono.

If your rig can play stereo-bass properly, you should have two different tones (20hz out of phase) playing through your mains and stereo subwoofers. Both subwoofers should be moving in opposite directions.
note: If the subwoofers are facing each other and spaced just a few inches apart the cones should be moving but you shouldn't be able to hear much.

https://soundcloud.com/bassthathz/20hz-stereo-inverted-bass

Try it out, you could be missing stereo bass and you don't even realize it...

Interesting. I have separate coax for full range signal to each tower speaker. Tapped off one channel for third sub but just temporary (read until winter stir crazy time) until i have time to bury cables.

Always good to check various settings etc... thx...
