The 13W7 thread got me thinking a little bit, so I went to the JL site to investigate. Here is a quote from the JL site regarding the W7 line.

"In recent years, the W7 platform has also become a reference standard in the high-end home audio world. Variants of the W7 are used in our ultra-premium Fathom® and Gotham® powered home subwoofers, which have received top ratings and recommendations from the world’s leading reviewers and are in daily use at some of the world’s top recording and mastering studios."

I know marketing is involved here so I won't touch the claims, however, does anyone know what changes are made to the drivers the company is referring to when it says "Variants are used" with regards to the JL home audio subwoofers? I am a fan of JL in general and have always wanted to see them sell these variants they elude to in their advertising.

I would guess that the impedance structure is optimized for HT use, as well as maybe a change in the inductance

(European models do not accept banana plugs.)
