Damn you guys are worse than me! I've been pretty happy with my QUADS so far. Every now and then whenever I start to get these little crazy thoughts about subs, i stop, bump up the bass 12db's and then all is well. biggrin.gif

This thread is making me regret my decision to wimp out and not buy 4 FTW 21's myself. At the end of the day I was afraid to let go of the Submersives since they really do it for me when it comes to music. Still, the curiosity of what 4 21" drivers in here would sound like is killing me..... mad.gifsmile.gif

I'm going to go out on a limb right now and say that you'll be just fine up to at least 70/80 hz where most people have "other" speakers taking over anyway.
Great build man, now my gears are turning on $500 21"s over my considered LMSU build, THANKS. mad.gifwink.gif
Not crazy about waiting 1-2 months though, I have to say...hope you get yours soon.
James

Yeah, most of us use these in theater rooms so having a wall full of 12"-15" speakers for each of the LCRs along with whatever sub driver the LCRs have would be a huge setup and would also need an AT screen to hide all the cabs. Thats one thing I love about Not's system, his huge mains to help out crossing the 18's at 80 or whatever hz. Wish I had went with the JTR 12s instead of my triple 8s for the same reason although music sounds just fine to me with the 21s matched with the triple 8s. Sure the triples sound good but they dont hit you in the chest. I even thought about putting some 12s or 15s under the triples but there simply wasnt enough space. If were DJing then could take up as much space as one wanted and then the use of mid bass drivers would work but in the home its not that easy. The 21s will perform how ever high you want to run them if localization isnt an issue, sure they are heavy but they will play really well. Maybe I ought to put three of mine on the same channels as the LCRs and see if there is that much noticable difference since my first plan was to have a 21FLH on the L and R channels.

Anyways to me...the FTW's at $550 a pop compared to the LMS Ultra at $925 a pop, if they even come close to the
LMS Ultra, then it's worth it and it's saving me quite a few $$$. But what do I know...

I'll get right on it, but first perhaps you can all purchase these instead and we can rename the block to "Nightmare at Bass Street" biggrin.gif

More like: get my head axed into 21 pieces.

There is 1.5 acres of empty land separating me and them and they still complain about how loud it is from that distance.

Just wait until they hear what my current system does PLUS Heywood's FP10000Q added to my rig biggrin.gif

reverse-1234525508_ben_stiller_-_do_it.gif

I'll need to bury my system underground, in a concrete bunker, in the middle of the acreage.

Mystery sub AB test time.
Same box, same amp, same gain, same ohm, same input wire, same song. Only 1 sub playing at a time.
You tell me which is which... biggrin.gif

I want measurements too!

For the record the 2nd part has more bass and is louder!!!
There's no way to know if all is even or not...
Just the positions of the sub and mic can make a big difference.

Can't wait to get my subs...

PS. I should change my title to 4x FTW21's now.

Regards,

Nice box... You do know that the new RE XXX is nothing like the old XXX before RE was sold, etc. And the king of movent was the Adire Brahma MKII which RE licensed the XBL^2 motor tech from.

I'm about to build a sub based on one of the old Titanium coned TC Sounds 5200 with the 4HP motor. I had PWK design me a box. I'm hoping for mad extention. cool.gif The sub is my avatar.

Would have been Wednesday if the {expletive deleted} courier had picked them up when he was supposed to.
I think I'll go sealed with these as the 8 12" drivers I'm going to use as well are difficult to get into low tuned enclosures of sizes suitable to where I can place them.
When I pick up the ply next month, I'll see if I'll do them stained with a baffle textured like Fatshaft's, or textured all over. I'm thinking 120 wide, 60 high and 40-50cm deep as two will fit nicely on the front wall in enclosures of those dimensions.

I really feel for those of you who cannot pursue the things you want to do. I'm infinitely glad I laid down the ground rules a long time ago.

She buys purses and jeans that are simply nonsensically expensive and to me- idiotic- I do my thing.

Almost home now on your journey here, now. Good luck.

+1 to that, though my wife is pretty easy going so it wasn't very difficult to establish "ground rules". I'm just not allowed to comment on her purchases. I guess we're in the minority...
