Maybe its been done already, but i am looking to use 2 of them as a car subwoofer....sealer or ported...looking for SQ over output.

Not sure what amp i would run yet...but thinking mono bridged to 2ohm and maybe 200 watts.

Is it possible to shoehorn 2 of these into a small sealed or ported box based on the t/s?

If i went ported i could be tuned at 50hz without worrying too much.

yes. models very nicely in a 1 cubic foot enclosure per driver, but you could go smaller, less than 0.5 cubic feet might be getting a little small.

anywhere from 0.5-1.0 cubic feet gives a -3db point of around 55hz. in a car, cabin gain will really extend the -3db point.

and 100 watts per driver in the 0.5 cubic foot per driver build is ok, but in the 1.0 cf per driver, that is a little too much. only 50 watts or so per driver would be required to push the driver to its excursion limit.

Listen. It's All Good.

i will probably split the difference and go .70 per driver and add polyfill...i will build a simple box to start and see how it sounds before i build it into the walls of the hatch.

I have a single 8 inch driver in my Tacoma PU and have to say the bass is very good. May not be way loud at 20 hz but it does sound like the bass goes deep enough for my liking when I am listening to my music.

Alan in Boise
103 inch AT screen with 9.x playback. IB subs. Two with dual 15s and one with dual 12s. Screen channels with Minimus 77s. Minimus 7 on front wide and front high and wides and sides. Room is perfect size for smaller speakers like the Minimus speakers. Approx. 17x13x8. Tower speakers were taking up to much room. Onkyo 818 used as pre-amp. Power amp duties handled by HK 2.1 Kenwood KM-X1. Hafler DH200.

thats all i am going for here...the sound with the hybrid audio comps is "almost" good enough to not need a sub...but i just need a little something more...

PS..i have an 18" ported sub in my HT...so i do like bass...but in this system i am going for a flat FR.

nvm...i have decided to just put them in a simple sealed box...figuring i would lose too much output going IB, same for doing an ap membrane. will be about .6cuft per driver, but will stuff the crap out of it to make it feel bigger:)

Update....i ended up putting 4 of these in the hatch as and IB....and powered them with 200 watts at 4ohms, and the SQ is amazing...i am loving these guys. I have done dozens of different sub boxes and this is probably my favorite set up in any of my cars. Really surprised me how good it sound...wish i had not waited so long to go IB. IN fact i am contemplating going IB in my HT with my 18" mach 5 driver....smile.gif
