I know they are out of production, but I like the no fan idea for a sub amp (all other amps are in a different room). How do they compare to a behringer or marathon?

The K2's are good amps if you not trying to drive difficult subs. If your planning on getting LMS Ultra's or RE XXX then you would want to consider a different amp than the K2 but if you don't listen at reference levels it still might be enough.

I had 2 at one point. I personally did't think they were anything special. Id take a ma5050 over a K2 in a second. Mine would thermally shut down when playing tones. They are the only amps I've ever had that actually shut right down.

Blasting brown notes for 10 years and counting!

I agree with N8 that there nothing special besides not having fans. There are fan mods for all pro amps that quiet them down to barely audible levels.

Some pro amps, like Yamaha's, even shut the fans off at low levels.

You can compare measurements with a couple of others in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/855865/measuring-amplifiers

Thanks for the feedback. It would be for a ftw21 or two so maybe I should consider a different amp......

Crowns XLS DriveCore are silent. I have one driving a sub hard and you never hear the fan.

The 2500 will do 2400 watts bridged 4 Ohm. $599.

An audiophile likes to talk about how much they spent and how good it sounds.

A DIY'er likes to talk about how little they spent and how good it sounds.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am just curious as to how you guys think a pro-amp would work for powering regular speakers in a home theater type setting? I am planning on purchasing a Behringer iNuke 1000 to power my sub and am thinking about picking up a couple of more iNuke 1000's to power my LCR. I am also considering Crown XLS-202 to power my sub and front LCR speakers. I am not concerned with fan noise at all as they will be going in a rack that resides in a closet.

They will work just fine, tons of power left over means they will be loafing most of the time

I still have one, but not in service. I picked it up for $485 a while back used. Not bad, but nothing spectacular for sure.
