That seems like a small box to dig that low? I'd think that would be more in the LLT range but I haven't the slightest clue about modeling.

Yes, well...sorta.
Specifically: two dual SS RLp18d4's up front, two dual-opposed SI 18d2's (2ohm final load) on each side of my couch and a 4x4 cube or cluster (two 2ohm load) behind the couch.
The extra ninth d2 is for my Jeep.

please let me know how this build turns out. DIYMA is down at the moment and im dying for some car audio talk

would a pair of these be an upgrade from a pair of Creative Sounds SDX 15's? 18's just look sexier biggrin.gif

edit: Powered by an EP2500 SDX's running at 4ohm per channel vs. SI 18's running at 2ohm per channel

All the bracing in the world won't stop a sub from shaking a little bit in the direction the driver moves. The only way to eliminate that is dual-opposed. Not saying your box moves, but after checking out some dual-opp designs vs. some incredibly well-built sealed single-driver boxes, it's quite clear that bracing has its limits. Not so much for hz in the teens, but from 30-60 hz it can really make a difference in how 'dead' the box feels. The bracing clearly helps keep the box rigid for the really deep stuff.

i wasnt criticizing the build quality at all.I hope no one thought that. i have read the thread. i was merely making a joke regarding the tree on top and every subs inherent vibrating/shaking. i believe the reply about that bracing was tongue in cheek as well. dual opposed does counter that to a great degree.

I'm looking for some good isolation spikes for the tree. I figure if I can get 3 expensive spikes and some string-light lifers, it will be even Christmas-ier.

PS: The bristles start moving at 40 hz.

Looks like you'd gain about 3 dB switching to the SI drivers

Much better upper end and inductance control, for one.

thank you. I could not find Le numbers for the IXL.

what do you make of the discrepancies between Ricci measurements and the SI ones?

Fs 15Hz vs 17Hz
Vas 473L vs 411L
Qts 0.29 vs 0.37

I am new to all this. I do not understand if this is big deal or not

Nope, group-buy ordering is done, but if you are interested in multiples, I might be able to help. PM me if interested. It has to be soon though. Shipping will start around first week in January. Those drivers that you already see out there are prototypes, the actual full line is in the process of being assembled.

Pretty close, my friend. Notable differences are pretty much negligible in the grand scheme of things going off the DB tests.

Maybe Gorilla can chime in some more on them.

Nah, Stereo Integrity is housed in the same spot as Sundown Audio and Obsidian. They have a good little operation going. WiSounds has already spoken to the value of the zv3 in his setups and I saw some while I was there. Definitely no slouch. All the design guys are doing are going with a new direction for a more HT based subwoofer. The same "looking" subs are already in use, but they are not the same design!! The high roll surround is on the obsidian, but the compliance of the HT surround is MUCH MUCH better for HT use. Im telling you I tested the two side-by-side and even though they look the same, there is nothing similar other than that.

Just like any smaller/growing company, SI is giving enough time to gauge total preorders before they begin building out the drivers. So far, they are doing quite well with pre-orders and all the parts are set to be delivered right around now, if not already. Holiday shipping posed a bit of an issue, but now that things are slowing down, it should be all good. This first order quantity is quickly being ordered up and they are hoping to really hit it out of the park with the second parts order.

Even though the parts were not there yet, I got to see the preparatory measures they have taken, the individual parts of the driver being used, and the space available to really take this operation to the next level. I am looking forward to visit #2 here in the next two weeks where I will hopefully be scooping up my order while I am there. FWIW, I think the shipping starting end of December is that far off. If they ship orders as they assemble them, this should be just about right.

One is out of stock, one is currently being assembled. Which one you want to wait for is the question. Being local, I am shooting for the SI. Check you PM's brah biggrin.gif

That one is not comparable and I would never consider using one, myself. It costs more and isn't as good as either the Dayton HO18 or SI 18HT.
