I love the function as an endpiece. Perfect way to fit multiple subs, and the granite is the answer to prevent the thing from shaking like crazy. Well done.

Creative touch on the grille, do you flip it on even/odd days?

I flip it according to mood. I personally like it starting from the top.

The magnets also make convenient bottle cap holders when people are over.

How long are you guys keeping your SI shipping boxes?
I usually keep my HT related purchases boxes for 1 year before trashing them, unless I know there is chance I'll re-sell in future them it's long term.
(am I a box hoarder?)

I hate throwing away boxes. They're more a badge of honor than anything to me. Opening the closet and seeing tons of awesome boxes jamed in there..I love it.

I typically keep my boxes until a warranty expires or a year has passed. Whichever comes first. Though I did just throw away my Dayton 18" box after only a month. That was a long walk to the dumpster..

I keep every box...for all of my electronics. Still not sure where I am going to store all of my sub boxes, but I'll find a way.

I have almost a whole attic full of stereo boxes. It stinks, and tossing that many SI boxes up the pull down ladder was a true pain, as I had to go up after each one and place it...that was my workout for the night

I keep all my boxes too. One, just in case I might want to sell the item, it helps to have the original box so I don't have to go look for something that fits. Two, if I have to disassemble to move or whatever, I'll have fitted boxes for said item. Plus its nice to just look at them. Lol.

I have all the boxes for my RLp's even and I bought those in 2007. eek.gif

I never keep my boxes. One thing this house is short on is storage space. This time however I think I'm going to keep them for awhile and was just thinking about that earlier today coincidentally.

I keep all of the boxes for the electronics I purchase. I've got an under-the-staircase storage area full of broken down boxes along with full boxes (TV's, etc) in my attic. I've had a few manufacturers offer to send me boxes and when I tell them I have the original box they always respond with "Really?! No one ever keeps their boxes!" And if you have the room keeping your boxes is much cheaper than having custom boxes made and packaged by your local UPS/FedEx store.

I find myself doing the same thing. I think I'm a box hoarder. I have every box for every piece of electronics item I own; cell phone, printer, monitor, speaker, receiver, etc, etc. etc. I think I need an intervention. biggrin.gif

Okay, maybe a stupid question, but here it goes. Those spring loaded terminals on the 18" subs. Is there a recommended way to connect to these? I'm currently have my wires terminated in bananna plugs which I have in the holes, but the connection doesn't seem as solid as it could be. Is it best to simply put bare wire into these lugs, or are bananna plugs better, or is there a different terminal type which I should be using?

Just use bare wire, that's what the spring loaded terminals are designed for and the best connection.

(am I a box hoarder?)

For speakers and for some drivers I keep the boxes, just in case I decide to sell. I was keeping all of my boxes in a storage room at our (father, brother and I) warehouse. Then my father decided he wanted to clean up the storage room. Called my brother and asked him if any of the boxes needed to be kept. Never called me and threw out a bunch of my boxes, right before I was getting ready to put three speakers up for sale. Luckily, I was able to find a semi local buyer, but I did have to drop the price, since I did not have the original boxes. I was madder than a hornet.

I appreciate the props guys. It was a lot of fun building and learning about this stuff. The subs don't have any issues with shaking stuff until about reference level, where the decorative potpouri thing goes crazy and you can see the speaker and lamp shade vibrating. Suprising how much they can move at extreme levels, even with the box weighing 90ish pounds and the granite another 50 or 60 (pure guesses). Hearing is believing though - watched iRobot last night - has great low bass quite often and not a bad movie either - highly recommend it.
