So I thought I'd post my Epic 12 build. Each cabinet used one sheet of mdf, are about 3.2 cubic feet after port, driver and bracing. They are tuned to 21hz.

Photobucket
so all of my pieces cut

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

coming together, my work space was small, as we just moved and I have one small corner to work with.

Photobucket
my ports put together

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used 3/4" quarter round on the edges of my ports to act as flares, the port is the same size at 2 4" ports

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
I painted the inside of the port before of attaching them

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I decided to use a 1" bore bit to drill through 1" dowels for bracing

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

got them all buttoned up and gluing the quarter round into the ports.

Photobucket

I also put the quarter round on the front of the cabinets on the edges

Photobucket

Photobucket

in their homes, I know bad idea to not paint them right away, but I just want to enjoy them for a little bit lol.

Oh they are powered by Yung 500 watt plate amps. I absolutely love them, they dig soooo deep and get quite loud. I tested them out with battleship the other night, very dynamic!

Nicely done!
Hope they serve you well!

I'm looking at a similar build and I have a question. After you fit your slot port in the box (I see its fastened along the bottom and the back) is it measured to fit snug with the top of the box? and did you just fasten before you close it up?

Thanks! It's fastened to the bottom, but not to the back since I wanted to leave room for the plate amp. The port goes up against the top of the cabinet do the top of the cabinet is the top of the port. It was a tight fit but still used gorilla glue to fill any gaps just incase.

How does the turntable like having two capable subs in the room? It will be a good test of its vibration resistance and the structural integrity of you equipment rack.

Nice build, I bet they sound great!

Ditto on the turntable question. Looks great, nice job!

One of the best builds I've seen; Dan has kindly offered to share the dimensions / cutsheet with me so I can build out a very similar sub. As soon as he's had a chance to pull it together and post, I'll start a thread with my own build smile.gif I've modeled an approximation based on best-guess in winISD, and it looks awesome!

Nice, I actually just sent him a PM asking the same thing. I am new to this and was going to go with sealed because it is said to be easier, but this build looks so nice.

Same as me - looks like this might be the new 'gold standard' for beginners! Are you planning on building with the Epic 12 as well?

If I was doing this one yes I would be using the Epic 12. I was originally going to do a dual opposed enclosure with two 15" Dayton speakers and iNuke3000, but stuff came up and my budget took a hit. Seems this may be a good route as I will save on the driver and the amp needed to power it.

Sorry guys, I've been crazy busy. I promise the details will be posted by this weekend. I was planning on a movie night and have a bunch of friends over to show them off and one of the Yung standby lights wasn't on. Tried a new cord, checked fuse, nothing. Ugh so now I need to trouble shoot that or send it back. No movie night :-(
