Well I finally heard back, the Oppo's toroidal and caps blew, repair cost is currently at $410, and hopefully it doesn't climb any higher...
(that includes return shipping and tax, ~$40)

use more speakers instead of one running at high power levels , adds to the cost but you will have a better sounding room
-- use four twelve inch subwoofers inplace of two or one - larger ports will reduce the peak power but if not to large
will give a great sound - works the same as having more running at less ( lower pressure against the walls less transfer )
look at the LG PF1000U if you want a projector

What is a 12...? Only 4? The smallest I have are 15's.

I have 13 15's, 8 18's and 2 21's.
I plan on adding another 14 18's ASAP.

4 12's wouldn't even get me 1db louder. (Unless they were subwoofer-headphones. )

Absolutely perfect!
Every time I tell friends and family that I want to put 8x18's in the theater; they think I'm nuts and then I read a post like this to confirm that I'm just fine.. Keep up the nice work and YES to another 14 18's!!!!!!

LOL. Only in this forum would people not be calling the local asylum to come pick you up after a statement like that.

DAMN. My neighbor is being kicked out by the end of September. I hope the landlord or new tenants like bass as much as the existing ones do.
If not, they will LEARN to like it!

Camping time is over. Smore Pie for the win!

Light and Dark chocolate.

I made a 4K video /w my UMIK-1, but unfortunately due to technicalities the audio track and REW analysis was purged from the disk.
I tried to recover it but the volumes aren't recognized as NTFS for some reason. I'll try a Windows 10 compat recoverer but I think it might be toast.
It was averaging 32dbA which is the lower-limit of the UMIK-1.

Really too bad because I caught a bee zipping by, some birds, and some "other" animal howling that wouldn't shut the hell up! Might have been a Big Foot. Sounded like a dying coyote. I'll see if I can recover the files...

I think the Big Foot tried to kill me with a large rock at one point.
Calm:

Debris:

Wave:

It was pretty loud, scared the hell out of me because I had my back turned to it!

When I turned around I was expecting to be ripped apart and eaten alive, but nothing happened.

I got word today that my Oppo is fixed and is being shipped back.
It's got the newest version of their 2-ch DAC board and power supply.

I remember it taking about 2-4 days of use/pinknoise to "break in" the Oppo when I first got it 3 years ago.
It would suck if it sounds worse after repair... fingers crossed!!!

I was thinking of renting out my house, moving, and then going back to university for 1-2 years very soon here, so unfortunately that will eat up my entire theater budget and then some; as well as any free time to do anything but study.
I keep changing plans and gears trying to figure out what is most-optimal from an income/job perspective. Gotta go where the money is, gotta make that paper...

The Oppo has arrived.

I hooked it up, and everything appears to be working*

Not only that, but there is no break-in this time around, and it sounds better than before!!! Not sure what changes they have made but the 2013 DAC is about 1% worse than the 2016 version I have now.
Before my HD800 headphones did NOT sound good on the XLR outputs, but now it sounds perfect!
I don't notice any difference when using my speakers, the change is probably smaller than the room's acoustic footprint, the headphones aren't affected by the room, obviously...

*Haven't tried the LFE channel nor the surround channels yet, but the factory tests said it was working, so...

I'm just glad my system is back to normal again. That only took like... forever!

SWEET!

My ISP told me that they upgraded my services from:
5mbps, to 150mbps symmetrical
and from a 500GB cap to unlimited,
and the price went down $20 per month!

They said it activates as of today (the 1st).

Plus they said I will get a free PVR upgrade tomorrow, and will have 4K TV channels with it,
and in-theater VOD's, in addition to the normal new-releases and classics.
Plus an additional promo of $40 off per month for the first 6 months.

They also said they are working on 1GB symmetrical, but no hard date on that, but they speculated within 2017 but no promises.

I'll finally be able to upload more 4K vids to my YT channel without fear of well-exceeding my cap (4K videos often range from 1-4GB of bandwidth per video FYI.)
My camera does about 8MB/s or 64mbps record rate, makes for some big uploads! Before it would literally take me 1 hour to upload a single 4K vid, that in addition to the cap was a real pain in the arse!
Now it will only take me 1-2 minutes to upload them and I can do as many of them as I want per month without fear of being charged extra!!!

Well I got an EDL today. Now I can travel back and forth across the WA/BC border as many times as I want without a passport on hand.

More info about it here:
https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citize...vel-initiative
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc.../proof/edl.asp

Since the US Gov and Can Gov already has all my personal information from when I had a security clearance... I figured why the heck not?
The DHS/FBI and CSIS/RCMP already have all my data about me, so giving them more of the same data isn't gonna hurt me any further.

They already have my: Photograph, Signature, Phone Number, Work History, Date of Birth, Full Name, Employment Number, Residency History, Credit History, Financial Records, and... Contact Phone Numbers for all the above... (and probably a number of other things I forgot.)
If they hadn't had all that already I'd probably think harder about giving them more data.
Just one more row for the NSA spy database I suppose...

Now the US-border protection and CAN-border protection agencies have my data too!!! Yee-Haw!

The fiber internet works great!
Looks like I'm getting an extra 18Mbps above spec. SWEET!

The technician said that the fiber line operates at 32Gbps, 400Mbps for symmetrical data and about 1Gbps is dedicated to the 4K service TV, the rest of the bandwidth is currently unused he said.
He said using the TV at 4K won't slow the internet connection down, and I tested it and confirmed that it doesn't slow it down.
The TV and Internet are on their own lasers he said... 1Gbps each and 30 of them are deactivated completely.

They are waiting for their programmers and chip makers to come out with faster tech to open it to "full capacity", but they are about a year or so away from that...

After trying 20 different apps I finally found a file recovery app that could read the GPT disk.
BTW 99% of them crashed during install or during the scan, and thus were completely useless.

Anyways, the files are nuked, not a single trace of them. Should have been a ~150mb wav file.
I found several wav files, near that size, but not were "the one".

Is what it is I suppose!

I still have the mic capture from the GoPro, but it was in it's waterproof case, so I'm pretty darn sure it picked up nothing but selfnoise.
