Hello Lads,
It has been quite a while since I've been around these parts. I have a set of Audax HT speakers that I built 10yrs ago. They still sound great to me but I'm kinda getting that bug again. Just scanning the threads I'm seeing speaker names that I've never heard of. So what is the current hot diy L/C/R project around here (HT only, I have other 2-channel speakers)? I have a dedicated HT that is 26x16 ft and a false wall up front. The front stage is all behind the false wall and screen. The Audax speakers are probably mid-size. The L/R are MTM and C is WTMW 3-way. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_3/diy-13-audax-center-channel-speaker-9-2001.html I use an Emo XP3 for L/C/R and my trusty behemoth HK AVR 7200 is still killing it for the surrounds and rears. I'm still using my diy cylinders for subs and I'm sure that is now old school, but I'm not getting rid of them. I've built two mahogany boats since 2010 so building speakers does not scare me and up until maybe 8 yrs ago I had built about a dozen speakers. My only issue is the damn MDF dust. Maybe I'll talk myself out of this rolleyes.gif

Hi there, biggest news as of late has been the SEOS waveguide and related designs.

Check out the "Hey guys...we need a little rallying here" thread.

Also: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/
Be sure to have a look at the forums on that site as well which have most of the designs using the SEOS and other waveguides offered there.

I'm surprised the HT community has been this far behind the car audio world. I was using waveguides in my vehicle years ago.

Nice to see them finally catching up. biggrin.gif

I'm surprised you'd say that. Klipsch has existed for a long, long time.

Horns are by no means new to the DIY world. I knocked off a Klipschorn in 1971.

Yes, but how often do you see them compared to other arrays? I was just posting a jab that they are back in fashion again. smile.gif

The SEOS was a name I was seeing a lot of when scanning the threads. I see someone posted a photo of some Klipsch. I have a pair of Klipsch Kg4 speakers and they are nice with a tube amp. I've also built a pair of Pi8 and a pair of Zigmahornets using Fostex FE103 drivers. I've also built some MBOW1s and a few others that I don't own now.
