I just picked up 6 sheets of 3/4" ply. I'll probably start building the cabs mid next week. I'm trying to juggle between this, and finishing my fabric frames/CIH screen setup. Too many irons. biggrin.gif

Would like to get your guys opinion. Riser or no riser? My front three speakers have risers.

I vote for risers. They have that 1960 JBL Bazilay look to them. Looks better than just a box sitting there. Unless you want them blacked out for the theater. Then you don't want any distinguishing features.

P.S., very nice work!!! Those should rock your world.

Risers would only be for aesthetic purposes and to make these beasts look more intimidating. Clean the goddamn carpet and do either, both ways look good. Nice build.

Lol. There is no carpet. Thats what The floor looks like after i ripped the old carpet out. It's in my basement that I'm redoing. The risers are absolutely for aesthetics. The subs will be stained a dark walnut color with four coats of satin armor seal to match the rest of my speakers.

I know, just carpet glue. I was messing with you. IMO go with risers.

Give us some nice clean pics with the stain done if you can.

Cool. Thanks. I like the risers better as well.

I also forgot that I'm putting the binding posts on the bottom so I need the risers anyway. Duh tongue.gif. This way I can position them outwards or sideways and you won't see the binding posts.

That's what I though too. I just put mine up on feet I made for them. This is what I just did to them though

Here you go. I bought these

Then I removed the balls and welded on these

Then I had them stripped of the chrome and replated copper

I'll mount them this weekend. I thing they turned out really good.

They are called Cornscalas. They are the style D version. A combination of Klipsch Heritage La Scala and Cornwall. All the info is here

Thank you! I have Mr. Paul W. Klipsch to thank as these are inspired by how he designed his old Heritage speakers. I had a pair of La Scalas and loved their dynamic sound, but they lacked bass and were way too big. I always liked the rustic look they had as well, so i built the Cornascalas and a couple Crites CS-1T's. My wife says they look like they are from Pottery Barn tongue.gif

Looks good!! Might want to route or jig out a little break in the base where you are going to have the speaker wire travel from outside to underneath the box, just to give it a crease to travel through the riser smile.gif

Thanks. im still going back and forth on that. i would actually put one on the long side and one on the short side of each of them so i could turn the subs if i wanted. i think ill just go ahead and do it.
