Boy this sub is fun. Output us effortless and impactfull. Really enjoying this bad boy.

Wife does not appreciate all the loud music again or the beautiful enclosure she calls the thing.

Only issue so far is that I forgot I ordered A dual 2 ohm and wired parallel to my Behringer. eek.gif Amp was not happy. We are now at 4 ohms and all is well again. smile.gif

You can't beat the effortless and impactful output of the horn.

I wish I had gone that route much earlier in my hobby career or sorts. It sure save money on amps!

So I ran my antimode, audyssey xt32, and then omnimic with minidsp. I have great response to about 15hz and my listening positions are more balanced. One final thing, is that my jumper to the other coil had come off! I was only running one coil the past few days! Always something!

Well, this sub is really good at a lot of things....

Being...
Loud
Deep
Clean
Efficient with bass.....

It is not good at one thing:
Keeping you from buying more efficient/capable mains! rolleyes.gif

Looks like some EricH diy mains are in the near future. Looking to build left and right into custom towers and a standard center. Will run them off my 4311.

What a great sub lilmike. Thanks again for your efforts. smile.gif

That sounded pretty good to me, especially when I consider how much bass my phone "misses".

As far as weight? They're not that bad, considering what they can do.... I use a 2-wheel dolly to move mine (when it gets moved).

You're most welcome. Glad that you like the results.

You were only running one coil? At least you didn't wire it as a dead short to the amp, or wire the coils out of phase with each other. You'd think I could figure out the wiring of a DVC driver...there are only so many options, and they're color coded. I check everything with a multimeter and an impedance sweep before the amp gets plugged in.

Funny how that works. Build a decent sub, then realize that some part in the rest of your system is "lacking".

what i really need is a bigger trailer , i only had my lil one for this and i had to put 2 of the micros in the bed of my truck its sucks lifting them in and out , then again i brought 6 micros with me as this was the first time i dj'ed at this hs so i wasnt sure just how much i would need , 3 ran comfortably all night , i was making the lights in the halways outside the gym rattle lol

Nothing like a little overkill... All 6 would have probably broken things.

As far as getting them in and out of trucks, they are tall enough that I can tip them onto the tailgate, then lift them up and in. Not exactly fun, but it can be done. Of course, my truck isn't "that" tall.

there is no such thing as overkill in this forum section lol , im a huge fan of overkill anyways

im getting excited over here as we are throwing a new years edm event in a large warehouse out here , i will be firing up 12 microwreckers for this event , 4 stacks of 3 the left side will have them in a cluster of 6 with mouths coupled and so will the right side , when i first start setting up im going to set them up as a single cluster just for the hell of it and see what they can do at max power

i just purchased enough inuke 3000's to power them all

i need to get a good camcorder or something to record that , i wonder if a gopro would be good for sound

Pictures/videos? Bah...I wanna be there....

12 at full throttle should be good fun. The party starts at 140 dB, and a stack of 12 should be able to get there.

im thinking it will be over 140db for the most part , if i had the time and new i could get the drivers here before the event i would prolly build 4 more so i could do 2 stacks of eight

but right now were scrambling to get enough tops for coverage and to be able to keep up with the low end

Where are you at? Pretty sure it's way too far from me (as I'm in the middle of nowhere) -- it would be a blast to pair up my Tannoy VQNET 60 LIVE tops with a 12 pack of Wreckers for an evening of fun! cool.gif

I'm thinking about selling off my Lil Wreckers, $600 for the pair, in Cali.

Any interest? Anybody had luck selling DIY horns?

Hope you don't mind the questions...
Mike: Do you know if this cab been used in PA by others besides Davece?
Davece: What size venues ( cu. ft, ) are you doing?
And what sort of crest factor and SPL?

Thanks

Yes, I have sold my THTs for what I had into them. There are many people out there that don't have the time, skills or tools to build and would gladly buy what they cannot build.

I've read many other people in other parts of this forum who don't have the time or space to build one (bunch of justifications and defenses for not working .... but I digress). If I were not on the other side of the country, I'd think about it at that price for sure.

In related news, my neighbors have talked about setting up some kind of drive-in movie type thing in our cul de sac just for fun this upcoming spring with my system and a projector from someone's work. Could be interesting. But I then I really would have to build one more lilwrecker!!

No worries Syd. How's things??

No idea about how many of the MicroWreckers are out in the wild, let alone how many are being used for PA use. I've emailed a lot of plan sets. The MicroWrecker is actually the evolution of a PA fold I scribbled up years ago, and it continues to evolve. If you don't need 20 Hz, I have a PA fold that I am still polishing up that will put a few dBs on these.

I've never tried selling anything I've built. Of course, my cabinetry skills would totally fail any sort of aesthetics review, which doesn't help matters any.

IMO: That would merit a separate thread of interest

And I'm O.K. thanks for asking. smile.gif
