I just finished up a pair of Cornscala's. Overall I am impressed, they are fiendishly efficient and the 15" woofer has all the bass I need. Currently its a two channel setup, but I will add surrounds and center next summer when I get a chance.

Excellent job! Not used to seeing that form factor. Now you need a matching center channel when you make the surrounds. wink.gifsmile.gif

Wow, those are sweet! Which horns and drivers did you end up going with? What made you decide on a 2-way as opposed to a 3-way? And last but not least, how do they sound compared some other speakers?

These types of speakers demand this level of detail, they really look beautiful. Excellent work!

The drivers and crossover are from Bob Crites, I chose the Style C package. Internal volume is around 6.95 c.f. They sound very good and of course have all the volume anybody could need. I think they can benefit from some eq'ing, but in stereo the ARC correction from the Anthem did not seem to work as well as just running them without the ARC. I will play around with them some and see. I listen to quite a variety of things, and I like watching live performances quite a bit. Etta James - A Sunday Kind of Love really shows how smooth they are, and I have some HDTracks stuff, Billy Cobham, Fourplay etc. The remastered Stones stuff is killer. And we ripped through some Staind - Fade and older Testament last night. The BluRay of Queen's Live Aid Concert and David Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall are a lot of fun to watch.

I hosted some local DIY guys last night who brought over some other speakers for comparison and did the measurements for me. The most startling thing is the efficiency. It is really hard to see that unless you have some other speakers to compare them with. These speakers will be with me for a long time, and in the future I can experiment with some low wattage tube amps and different setups to have some fun.

I have some Zaph kits from Madisound for the rears and center channel, and when those are in place I am sure it will make a significant difference in the listening experience.

i like to listen to music in Pure Direct (no EQ) mode with mine as well. they are super efficient. even with just my AVR powering them i have had them over 117db's clean with room to spare. i will have mine for a loooong time as well. i love their giant "live" sound. i am going to use one of my Crites CS-1T's as a center.

Etta James and Testament in the same listening night? your music tastes sound a lot like mine!

again. Awesome build. just top notch.

Marty. he lists the components in his last post. read. then go to Bobs site. almost everyone uses the components Bob provides and designs around.
